I just need to fill out some paperwork for disability. I cannot get myself to. I've tried punishments, rewards, "pushing through it," and accountability buddies, but I can't seem to do it. I get on suicidal thought spirals and stop every time, and my pain takes my focus away from it making it even harder. I don't know what's wrong with me or really care, I just need to get my shit done, it's simple as hell. Like it's not even hard, I don't even have to read most of it. I can post on this forum, I can play stupid games on my phone or watch YouTube, but I haven't been able to do this simple ass thing that could help me out SO much. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really don't want to fuck this up. I'm so goddamn miserable, but I think having a bit of a financial safety net could help

Think lowering stress/anxiety could work. Can be done in many ways. Mentally, choosing perspectives that will make it as not much of a big deal might lower the anxiety. I'm too tired to give specific examples rn. Another thing is to only write one sentence/tick one box, sit down to do that one small thing (takes ten seconds) and see what happens.

The thought spirals and pain, not sure about what to do there. Are they not present if you're watching YT?

What helps me in situations like this is to do it little by little. Even if it takes all day. Or days. Or weeks. Or a month.

You can set a timer for 5 minutes and try your best to spend all of it on the task. Take a break for as long as you want. Then do it again.

On another note, thank you for reminding me to fill out government paperwork. I haven't updated my address on many of my documents for months. Moved across the country, too. Probably not legal? But, I'll play some games first.

I'll start tomorrow. Probably.

Try doing it in chunks. 10 minutes and if you feel like you could do it longer add another 10 minutes. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Sometime you just need to have a word with yourself or just be told to stop fucking around. A bit a slap to face so to speak. It's not always pleasant but it gets the job done as its what you need.

So, for you own good - tough love situation - stop fucking around. Get your pen out and tick some boxes. Write down what's wrong with you and get it sent. You'll feel so good once it's done. Now fucking do it.

Doing a small amount at a time seems to be working. Thank y'all for your comments. I think a large part of the problem is that hunching over or laying down or being in really any position I can write in write makes my pain much worse. Hard to do shit in that state

there is. getting one part completed, regardless how small, helps amd makes the process less daunting.
