• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

a friend of mine used to use matches, etc to give herself small burns. I have never tried it personally though

I've heard a rubber band to the wrist is an alternative method, as well as drawing on your arm with a red pen.
I've also tried doing the motion with a comb instead of a blade - gives a similar sort of burning sensation.
Scratching may also be of use, as it's less destructive and doesn't scar.

Alternative methods personally haven't worked for me - the only reason I stopped cutting atm is that I want to die not feel more pain.

Wish you all the best in finding alternatives - hopefully this is helpful somewhat :)

Are we talking less harmful ways or just different ways to hurt yourself?

Probably the second. I'd like to know some in case I fail to go through with Plan A (dying).

When I was younger, I used to just... punch my head. It sounds super stupid now, but if I did it enough I got a dizzy rush.. Obviously didn't do it in front of anyone either.

(that's my weird input for the day)

Whats the point in self harm? I never get that. Why hurt yourself when you are already hurt? I don't know but some people find solace in it. I'd say that if you are so distressed that you want to self harm, then just catch the bus. Life isn't THAT "beautiful a journey" to do self-harm with the intention of finding a small lump of peace.

When you experience physical pain you get a rush of endorphins to counteract the feeling, so in a way it almost feels nice. It's not done to make us suffer more, it feels good and detracts from the emotional numbness that some of us feel.

For those of us who aren't ready to or don't have the opportunity to CTB, self harming can be a way of getting through the day as a distraction

i used to think like this when i was younger and less depressed but i understood when i actually felt the urge to hurt myself.
for me, it's a way to take your mind focus on something else when the mental pain is just too much.
never really followed through the urge though, i've always been terrified by physical pain.

I never did wrists, I always cut in areas that would be under clothes. I found my upper arms and legs to be good for cutting as then when I did get dressed and go about my life for days after then it would be sore and uncomfortable every time I moved and/or it touched my clothes, allowing me to sort of self harm during my day in public.
