Try not to let it upset you. I'm going to say one thing to sympathise, and another that might make you feel angry a bit more but it's not my intention if that happens!

My dad is a fking nightmare for ruining stuff of other people's, so I totally get it. My mum always ended up locking even basic stuff away from him like pens so he wouldn't use it for stupid shit like opening tin cans or getting dog do do off his shoes. He's ruined plenty of stuff of mine too.

You might not want to hear this but personally I wouldn't be hugely attached to such a book, at least once you get past the idea that it just boils down to money at the end of the day. It's replaceable. What is not replaceable is the time and effort you put into preserving it.

I get it! So yeah I suggest just remind yourself it's just a bit of money, and the relationship is more important! I guess!

That's a nice and irreplaceable book. A piece of history from another time which can be seen and held. I would be upset too and would rescue the book and ask them "wtf were you thinking".

Well if your partner doesn't respect you then yeah I'd say that's a serious problem then.
And apologies then for saying it was just the value of the book. If it has sentimental value and your partner knew it then that's also a serious issue

We have disscused tbing and ahe understand ..why i got upset ..and hiw much certain things in my life that have meaning to me are the most important things to .. my health will ine day catch up to me and i will not go out that way its why im here on ss.. but my most important posetions are for the people moat important to me there cash value does nit even come into it...
I have a dolls house that was given to me buy a true friend who never built it for her kids so she gave it to me and at the young age of 38 she died she gelpped me in ao many ways so i built it and we let my partners brothers kids have it to play with but they started to break it so it is mow back with me safe to be passed down again its worth sod all cash wise but to me it one off my most important thing i own...
We place value in £££ or $$$ over whats important its the small thi gs in life that hold true value a photo or a cheap gift given out of love .. not out of showing off how deep your pockets are ..
I really do miss her so much she kept me sane .. but passed before my diagnosis ..😢
