Has anybody had any positive or therapeutic benefits from antidepressants? If so which ones were they?
Over the years I have been on Prozac, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Efexor, Celexa, and Cymbalta. None of them even touched my depression with the exeption of Efexor, which provided relief and had me feeling GREAT but only for 2 weeks....then back to crippling depression.

Has anybody here had any luck with antidepressant meds? I would like to know.
Thanks.

I've been on Citalopram (Celexa), Fluoxetine (Prozac). Neither of these done anything for me however I'm currently on 90mg of Duloxetine (Cymbalta) and it seems to be helping me. I'm going to be going on the maximum dose of 120mg. They have helped in I'm eating better, less anxious and depressed. But I still want to ctb. However they are helping me plan my suicide and be patient as it will be a while till I can get my resources together.

A few years ago, I was on Zoloft for more than 6 months (probably 8), I was on medication for both anxiety and depression. It helped me with my depression, I felt like I could actually do thing. And I had, in some way, my energy back. But for anxiety nothing, it helped a little with the rumbling feeling but apart from that. Also, after the initial six months, the last two one were bad, depressive symptoms came back.
Every other medication I was medicated with weren't antidepressant, even tho they prescribed it for my depression, so I guess it won't contribute to the thread. But I have to say that with every medication, including Zoloft, the downsides were truly hitting me hard in the face. I don't even want to know how much weight I put on.

I'm on Mirtazapine 45mg currently, been on it in various doses for 5 months. I haven't noticed any positive difference at all if I'm honest. Mentally I'm still the same as I was before them, except now I have weirder dreams, I eat more, I get restless leg syndrome and I seem to go to the toilet far more than seems normal. So all negative really.

I've got my Dr calling next week and I plan to tell him I've listened to him many times, and he's upped the dose from 15 to 30 and now 45 and they're still not working so I quit. Whether he tries me on something else I don't know, I don't really care either, they've done nothing but affect me negatively.

The kicker is, I was on amitryptiline before them, and I've recently read they're quite hard to get prescribed as they're a suicide tool. I had boxes and boxes of the damn things and threw them away. Near on 300 tablets.

Venlafaxine 300mg (I think it's branded as Effexor in the US). I'm still depressed, but I can actually function now. I have a job and clean dishes and such.

It's an SNRI and the N part only kicks in at high doses. If you find it isn't working maybe ask for a higher dose. I never tried it in combination with Mirtazapine (the California rocket fuel!).

Keep reading about CRF but don't seem to be able to get more then one thing of of doctors due to their fear of serotonin syndrome.
Yea venlalfaxine at that dosage seems to be the sweet spot for more people I've spoken too. Well to function anyway

75 mgs XR to start, felt great for 2 weeks, then it wore off...upped to 150mgs XR no effect. Switched to 75mg immediate release 2X a day, but if i missed a dose i had awful withdrawal symptoms. Got off it, switched to hard narcotics.

i've been on every drug under the sun and the only ones that have helped have been wellbutrin and lexapro. both of those worked for a while (2 months for wellbutrin, 2 years for lexapro) but eventually wore off. i also had electro convulsive therapy but it didn't do too much. i have a doctors appointment this week and i'm gonna have med changes again but i doubt it will help. my depression is mostly drug resistant

I think the only benefit that I got out of meds was the fact I could put my weed in the empty bottle.
In my opinion I think that all pharma pills for psychiatric conditions help the manufacturer more than the consumer

That's the problem some people really sensitive to the side effects was going to ask if you was thinking of going on a higher dose. I feel a bit lousy if I forget to take it them remember a few hours later. Electric feelings in hands.

Oh man that withrawal was god awful. It was like an entire body electric shock every time I blinked or even moved my eyes. And the twitching.....it was unreasonable. Worse than opiate withrawal for sure.

Is there an antidepressant that doesn't kill the sex drive? -_-
I've pondered antidepressants for a while but decided against them because that's even more shit in my already colorful cocktail.
Pretty much any antiepileptic started off as an antidepressant, failed, and then somebody noticed it can be used under some very specific circumstances.
And every single one kills the dick.

:-( that's realy bad ive read about people getting that bad. Luckily ive never had effects like that. I just can't come off them now as depression Comes back when I reduce dose :-( . Other meds in pipeline to try was part of a med trial a year ago for a cannabinoid receptor antidepressant.

Escitalopram has been pretty good so far. No many sides as well. Lamictal isn't a antidepressant but it can act as a mood stabilizer, I'm on 300mg. Topiramate was pretty good as well, mainly for when you feel down and just wanna get fucked up. These are epileptic drugs. Propranolol I take daily as well, it helps with physical symptoms of anxiety disorders. Give carbamazepine a try, that worked well for me but I reached toxic blood levels and came off of it, you have to get blood work done regularly. Duloxitine was also pretty good but my hair was falling out. Mainly just find one that doesn't cause many sexual side effects so it doesn't add to your problems, or weight gain, that just kills my self esteem. Also btw Topiramate helps most to lose weight as a bonus.

Mirtazapine, quetiapine work pretty good in my case. Amitriptyline has worked not bad, but I had a lot of side effects - sexual problems and insomnia. I don´t know is it available in your country.
