  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

recently i had to be out of the house for about a week and because of that i bought my cat an automatic feeder (and still checked on her once a day).
its been about a month now and shes still using it.
i dont like it..... i keep missing it because im sleeping or ND and i just miss it or forgot it went off. so i have no idea if shes being fed, then she'll ask for more food and im like well.....i probably shouldnt. but shes typically sleeping, shes probably asking for a reason. well ill give her a small snack.

im absolutely terrified that its going to stop working and im not going to notice then shes going to starve for days and its all my fault for not being more attentive......
it honestly brings me to tears......

Most phones have a feature to set reminders or alarms, and you could use those to prompt yourself to check at feeding time.

Longer term, you could look at getting a small security camera for the room with the feeder and reassure yourself that way. Or get rid of the automatic feeder altogether and use alarms or reminders if you're worried about losing track of feeding time.

I want to say if your cat was starving, you'd know it. She would be looking elsewhere for food (trying to get into garbage or whatever other sources she could find), she would look and feel underweight, and you'd probably notice behavioural changes. (But I'm not a cat expert.)

we're only staying here temp. we have cameras but theyre at the new place hours away.
getting rid of the feeder is going through my mind but with my MH im not the best at getting up and doing that. (haha it just went off)

youre mostly right. there would be signs (however some pets are general trouble and will get in the garbage anyway lol. although she hasnt in a bit). i just worry so much about missing something. im the kind to overreact. "oh something is slightly off, she must be dying"

Thank you 🫂💜
