• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Ack, odd and awkward question to ask but I'm exceedingly curious.

I've been a furry since I was 13 or so. Very much a big part of my life!

I think I've seen a few furry icons around, so I'm curious to know how many more of us are around :b

I'm not a furry, but I would like to take this opportunity to ask a few questions
. Please forgive my ignorance and obviously, feel free to tell me where to get off, or simply to ignore me completely. Absolutely no offence is intended, ever.
*Furries have had a bad rap online. Is it primarily a kink? Or just innocent dress up?
*Would a single person feel at ease/safe/comfortable at a furry convention?
*Although it seems new to us, many sub cultures do, while they have actually been around for a long time, only known by different names etc. If this is the case, would you be able to reveal some history?
*Do your family know that you're a furry? If so, what do they think of it?
*Does each individual feel a spiritual connection with the animal they represent by way of their outfit?
*At gatherings (conventions), does everyone maintain their furry persona throughout? Just, it must get pretty hot in the suit. Do furries reveal their human identities to each other?
*Is there a demographic that encompasses the majority of the furry community? If so, what would that be? And what are the youngest/oldest furries you're aware of?

Again, apologies for my utter ignorance. I absolutely do NOT disrespect the community in any way. In fact, I have never even met a furry, nor had the opportunity to talk about these things.
Respect to you for having pride in your identity.

So, the definition of "furry" is someone who just appreciates anthropomorphic animals (characters from movies like Zootopia are examples of socially accepted furries). The bad rap leaves people thinking being a furry = you like beastiality, which is absolutely not the truth. Furries have been around for a long time, though most folks today just like to dress up and design characters they feel represent themselves, the kinky part definitely exists too.

For me, I feel like I've always been a furry. I never really told people about it because I know how most of society views furries because of the misinformation. As for my family, I think my sisters know, but it's not really like a sexuality where you'd just "come out." haha. so, if someone were to ask me if I were a furry, I'd say yes, but I'm not going to go around saying I am, if that makes sense. I've never been to a convention before (as I don't own a suit yet, and don't particularly want to go without one), but I hear the general community is friendly and welcoming. I don't know for sure, as I don't interact with many of them and don't have any IRL friends that are furries. It does get hot in-suit and most of the suiters I know are OK with revealing their identities- really, every furry I've interacted with is fully understanding that it's just a costume, and that it's just a character. We know we aren't ACTUALLY dogs. In the furry fandom, everyone has a "fursona," like, persona, the main representation of you. Mine, for example, is a fox. I designed her myself, and I can't say the connection is spiritual or anything, it's just what I envision myself looking like if I were an animal. Mine is pretty boring compared to some. You can be as creative as you want. I've seen some really original and super cool fursonas, with 4 arms, or a mouth at the end of their tail, or big wings, or a mixture of a bunch of animals, etc etc. That brings me to answer your last question- the demographic.. I would say it's pretty diverse. I've seen 11-year-old furries, I've seen 45-year-old furries, and I think it's because of the freedom and creativity with expression that appeals to all ages. I hope this helped some.

Thanks so much for entertaining my ignorance.

I've backed a furry artist on Patreon since 2018, I think? I stopped for some months, but I loved his art so much I wanted to see more of it and went back sometime around 2021, and I still do it to this day. I even considered not cancelling my pledge before I ctb, for appreciatin his art so much, but I would have to make my relatives aware of that so I don't create any financial trouble for them in terms of credit card bill or things like that, which I really don't want to. I've considered drawing a fursona at some point. Besides that, I never engaged in the community directly before, nor I feel like it. I guess I appreciate (some) furry art, but that is the extent of my "furriness".

I'm not a furry myself, but I do like it. Never had contact with other furries so never got to get involved with it.
I really admire the community, and the fursonas they are so cool and cute!
I don't think I would stand being in a fursuit tho, man that must be hot.
I wouldn't be surprise If I one day endup being a furry, If I'm not too old for that lol and not CTB ofc
I wish the furries here in SaSu the best!
