Anyone been diagnosed with bipolar?

I have a major depression diagnosis but I don't think they took into account the extremity of my moods. I've definitely had mania before, at least one time, and my non-depressed mood is pretty damn elevated with strong religious feelings possibly bordering on delusion.
Just wondered if anyone's got any experience with this and if the treatment for bipolar made any difference compared to mdd.

My mother is bipolar, she had episodes of mania and depression, with lithium she was able to balance her life, consult your psychiatrist
As for me, I had a cocainomanic psychosis and my mind has not recovered so far

My doctor initially told me that he can not diagnose me with Bipolar because I "had not been hospitalised" (?)

My doctor at the time was planning to quit in a couple weeks, which is why I think he just couldn't be bothered to do his job properly. I took what he said and decided to go and hospitalise myself. (you can simply walk into a mental health centre and ask to be hospitalised)

I am now on Olanzapine (thienobenzodiazepine), and it sure has helped alot - of course it does not make me "normal" but it's much betterr.
The first couple months of getting used to it were definitely strange, I had strange feelings including not knowing who I am, and not recognising myself in the mirror. But now that I am used to it, it's honestly pretty great.
