• If you haven't yet, we highly encourage you to check out our Recovery Resources thread!
  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Feel like life can be enjoyable but the negative experiences usually far outnumber the positive ones.

In life, net pain > net pleasure, in my opinion

Also, to achieve those positive experiences,
often one must have to put in an inordinate amount of effort with a hi risk of failure.

And even when one achieves what one desires, often the road on the way there is extremely difficult and full of misery.

It all seems so pointless.

It feels like life is not much fun at all.

Anyone else feel like life isn't worth the trouble?

If so, how can life be made to be at least more bearable?

Yes. Anhedonia makes life painfully dull. Everything is a chore. Life just ain't worth it.

Um. I guess life could be more bearable by doing more things to help others. :/ Helping animals or something. I dunno.

yeah, even scientific researches say that negative events affect us way more than positive ones, we remember more negative events than positive ones, etc. there is chronic pain, but isn't chronic happiness. torture is 1000 times stronger than orgasm. and so on.

This should be in off-topic or SD really. Feels a bit cruel to post this in recovery.

do you know of any animal charitys or anything that would require volunteers I think this might help, I've often thought if I could help in countrys that really need help like places in Africa maybe I could turn this around but I don't know how or if I would be any help.

In my life the pain outweighs the pleasure. I don't know about anyone else's.

I don't, but I can do some research. Tbh people would probably appreciate any help, no matter how minor it seems.

thanks, I guess I can have a look, I think helping homeless might be a bit close to home because I might be on the other side one day.

people say there's always a light at the end of a tunnel (or however it goes), but is it really worth it if the end of the tunnel is so damn far? not to mention, you can't be in the light forever. there's always another tunnel.

also, like thebrinkimdriven said, this doesn't really fit in the recovery thread. it should go in one of the other threads.

I don't think my life is worth the trouble of maintaining it. But, I can't bring myself to ctb, so I'm just going to endure it, I guess

Yeah, unlike a lot of people who want to say I really see a lot of value in life, but I can't justify going through lots of suffering to get the good stuff.

Exactly, That's why I want to die. I don't want to live just to work my whole life so I can survive. I don't want to have responsibilities, I just wanna do what I want and if I can't (I can't) then I'd rather die

Schopenhauer had it right when he said life was "an unprofitable episode, disturbing the blessed calm of nonexistence."
