Hi!

I was a big manga lover back in the day. I haven't really read it for a few years. Are there some new hidden gems yet? I remember I liked some weird stuff like Shintaro Kago, Junj Ito, and stuff aside from big titles like Berserk, vagabond, Vinland Saga, etc. I don't really enjoy the slice-of-life genre if it doesn't have an interesting plot like in "Inside Mari", "goodnight punpun" or "Flowers of Evil". I also would like to check out some fucked up stuff like "q-saku's dream" or "Metamorphosis" just out of curiosity. Big new titles would also be appreciated, I feel like I'm out of the current flow of it.

It's a pretty compelling plot that's very very deep(and fucked up since the protagonist is a bad person), some people don't like the ending but it was extremely poetic to me and fit the whole message of the story so well.

Here are some gems which are not that known to a large fanbase. Please don't share them I want them to maintain secret gems.

Spoiler: Secret Gems

There is for example this manga called Dragonball. I don't know whether it has an anime.

Another secret gem is One Piece. I think it is about pirates but it so brand new that I have not read that many chapers.

But the real non mainstream gem is called Death Note.

Okay a serious answer now. I am not that much into the manga and anime world compared to my younger me.

Tbh I don't think you share my taste. I watched Monster but it did not live up its hype for me. Maybe you will like Elfenlied. Or Deadman Wonderland. Highschool of the Dead. As I said I only know mainstream titles. Sorry I am not that much of a help. I watched some Gantz. It has such a weird taste. Some scenes were pretty disturbing.

astonishing artwork, little dialogue
it trully lets you feel and "listen" the setting
It is set on a world so vast and barely anything is explained, it takes "show don't tell" literally.
You can sense the quiet and ambience just through the artwork.
It's trully one of a kind

1. Bessatsu Comic Unreal Ningen Bokujou Hen Vol. 7. Traumatized me back in a day. Humans are forced into a role of a cattle, there's a story from the creator of Metamorphosis. In my opinion it's even more horrific than Metamorphosis. Some stories like Niwatori no Wakusei no Poultry Farm have translation
2. Hen na Ie. New manga. A mystery about house with a strange floor plan
3. Nikubami Honegishimi. New horror manga, looks promising
4. Fuan no Tane and Kouishou Radio. Jumpscare manga. Seeds of anxiety is a really smart name, like seeds will bloom at night.
5. I am a Hero. Zombie apocalypse
6. Jinrou Game, Jinrou Game: Beast Side. Death game manga
7. Ura Baito: Toubou Kinshi. Comedy/horror about strange part time work
