• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I read this other thread regarding something similar, and it's bugging me...

Now, this isn't the case for everyone, some might want to be forgotten.

But the idea that some, if not many people will view our death as a normal ordeal, an everyday casualty and a simple number for suicide statistics...
It hurts, because I know damn well l want to be memorialized and remembered longer than a week, and I'm certain many of you can agree. We didn't ask for this, why bear the bane of being lost to time too?

Although, l can certainly acknowledge the apathy route of 'if you're dead, it simply doesn't matter after that.'

But the cruelty of humanity... l finally get why people hate, in a lack of better words, people themselves.

Eventually most people are forgotten, but this could take generations. If you were close with your family and friends you can be remembered for their lifetimes and beyond. I still think of my friend every day after 5 years.

I am just curious how we will be remembered - most likely I will be remembered as " oh that guy, you remember him - he killed himself"

in a thousand years who will be remembered? in 10,000 years? in a trillion years? nothing will matter then.....

even black holes and protons will decay.... the universe will keep expanding forever into nothingness

what is outside the edge of the universe ? nothing.

This helps me think about it, because on the grand scheme of things nothing really matters.

I've already been long forgotten by anyone I could have possibly known throughout my life.

But in the event of my death, whether natural or otherwise, the saddest part is the only one who would keep my memory alive out of love is the one I hurt the most.

We are all eventually forgotten and it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. That's just your ego talking.

I agree with the sentiment of eventually it will all be gone any ways so what dose it matter. Its comforting we are all equal, because we will all fade into nothing sooner or later.

But for u personal u can chose how other will remember u. So idk do something to make your life memorable or note worthy. Or don't and just disappear from this world so that your existence fades with u. Its all for u to choose.

The fact that all will be forgotten about in death is exactly why it's a relief for me, I only hope to be permanently unconscious with this existence no longer my problem, I just want to forget about this torturous, futile existence that just causes pointless suffering with no limit as to how much agony one can feel, to me human existence truly does feel like the most terrible mistake, I'd be so relieved to permanently cease existing and never suffer ever again. Of course I wish I could erase my existence so it's like I never suffered, I want it to be like I never existed at all as I truly never should have been forced into this existence, I find it a tragedy how this existence was even imposed at all.

Sure, we'll all be forgotten one day. Just imagine all the billions who came before us, all those experiences from birth to death that will forever be lost to time. Personally, I'll probably be forgotten pretty quickly. For some years already, I've been "whatever happened to that guy" for most people, or at least I assume so if they haven't already forgotten about me. I've made far too many mistakes in my life.

Yes, we will all be forgotten eventually. That's just how time works. It may take a few generations for us to actually be forgotten but we will be forgotten one day regardless of whether you like it or not. I doubt that any of us know the names of those who existed 3+ generations ago so how would 3 generations ahead of us be able to remember us? People act like they are significant and will be remembered for a long time but, honestly, we won't. We are all insignificant in the cosmic sense

I was thinking about making one of those time capsules and burying it with a reminder to future generations to stop fucking things up :pfff: but I am sure they would just forget about it the next day and watch a cool netflix show instead!

this post hit on a deeper note for me, i've always wanted to do something that gets everyone to remember me, but it isn't easy, its definitely a journey to commit to.

I think it mostly depends on the kind of impact you have, your family will probably remember, or grieve, for you their entire lives, same for close friends. I still think about people i've only met once, whom i haven't seen in years, some people miss others more than they'd like to admit, i think.

In 100 years, unless your a meaningful politician, mass murderer, or a billionaire, you will be forgotten, regardless of what you do. You'll just be a name on a tombstone

A convenient thing about dying is that we'd literally cease to care. This is the last thing in the world that would bother us. That's actually kind of a nice thought, to me. No more jealousy, no more rage, no more yearning. Not even an issue.
