  • Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Sure it is possible for us to live really horrid lives. Yes many of us have to suffer a really long time until we get to die.

However, we should be thankful that we can die at all. Imagine that there is life out there right now that cannot die.
If it doesn't exist now, it may come into existence within a few billion more years.

Even then, eventually you'd think it would die, as it's said that one day every star will be gone.

Of course, that would take an excruciatingly long time, if that lifeform experienced existence in human terms.

Watched a video recently that said that the wish to not exist is distinct from the wish to die. Those that don't wish to exist don't see dying as an option.

To live is to suffer… to die is to give in to uncertainty… suffering and uncertainty are both terrible things to me.

I wish badly to not exist anymore, but I don't see dying as an option because it is unpredictable. Anything can happen after, and I don't think nothingness is a guarantee or even highly likely. The best I can do is live life and try to escape the suffering, because at least I know that is possible. Still, I am discontent. I am so… tired.

I've often told myself: "I could just kill myself if things get too painful," and that has helped me overcome a lot of my anxiety in the moment. However, I've also heard that once someone first considered suicide as a genuine option, that idea never really goes away. In the back of that person's mind, suicide will always be considered a potential option.

But I still agree. Being unable to die would suck, because then there would be no end to suffering.

Anyone here read the vampire chronicles by anne rice? Anyways, some of the vampires there went crazy and lost their mental capacities exactly because they were near immortal and lived so long. Some of the characters there hibernated to avoid this.

Are there actual current studies/researches targeted towards achieving immortality right now though? I know there's always some about longevity but immortality? 🤔 This makes me wonder.. In the positronic man by isaac asimov and robert silverberg the courts defined being human as the capability to die. I wonder if there would ever become a future where human immortality is legal or normal.

That's the only good thing about being in a perpetual suicidal state. The mortality thing that most people are hung up on is of no import.
