• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I'm not sure if you're looking for a story about suicide or info, but for stories I recommend No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai. It's a difficult read though.

+1 I am a huge fan of Dazai's work and I highly recommend his other books as well. No longer human has stuck with me to the point I bought it in 2 languages. As for my recommendation, I don't have anything non fiction related but as far as fiction goes I love Oyasumi Punpun even though I don't like manga.

A Happy Death and/or The Stranger by Albert Camus.
While more about futility/nihilism and death in general and not specifically about suicide, these two do touch on the subject a bit.
On Suicide: A Discourse on Voluntary Death by Jean Améry.
Any idea of where I could read it online? Tried looking for it and there's nothing. Don't want to pay $25 on Amazon for a hardcover that I may not even like XD.

For non-fiction, I'd recommend stuff by Thomas Joiner. You can find it on Library Genesis

I know its extremely silly writing it here but just saying it is very dark. I like it because I relate to it a lot. An interesting fact is that the author has passed away by ctb, and a good chunk of the story is a 1 to 1 retelling of his life or his thoughts but not all of it.

I tried to send it as a private message but it doesnt let me, I am not sure if Piracy talk is allowed on the forum but I could not find it in the rules.

If you want to get it for free check out Annas Archive, its the best free website that archives/links tons of books for free from sites like libgen. Just make sure to go on it with adblock.

Link: https://annas-archive.org/search?q=On+Suicide:+A+Discourse+on+Voluntary+Death

Then you click on the book you want to download and either pick slow download or external download.
If you do not have a reader for it you can use Google Play Books and upload it there and you will have access to it on all of your devices (on ios/android download the Google Books app)

Undoing Suicidism: A Trans, Queer, Crip Approach to Rethinking (Assisted) Suicide — by Alexandre Baril

I love this book and last I checked it was free on kindle. It coins a new term (suicidism) to describe the oppression that suicidal people face in society (involuntary commitment, social stigma, etc), and proposes a completely new model for approaching suicide in society. Did I mention that I love it? I love it.

I've read the synopsis and am reading the beginning of the book and I'm astonished by how much I'm relating to everything lol

" A very human ending" by Jesse Bering. Provides a lot of useful information on the science behind suicide coupled with interesting anecdotes from the author himself, read it last year and thoroughly enjoyed.
