• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I'm thinking about shooting myself. Does anyone have any direct experience with buying a gun in NYC or Long Island? I am hoping to buy a handgun because it would be easier to hide (I live with my boyfriend). I know I need a license for a handgun or a permit for a shotgun in NYC. On Long Island, I need a license for a handgun. A shotgun just requires a background check, but it would be much harder to hide from my boyfriend.
Does anyone know a source where I could buy a handgun in NYC without a license?

Haha no!
Though it heavily depends on what state you live in. If you live in NYC, the laws are ridiculously strict. One of the requirements is you need 3 references to attest to your "moral character." That makes things difficult because I can't go up to a friend and say, "Hey can you be one of my references when I go buy a gun? I want to shoot myself."

Are you able to relocate to another state? If not, then I would go with Long Island as you mentioned that they are less strict and as far as having a shotgun/longgun, maybe you could store it in a storage facility or something? These are just some ideas and I don't know your entire circumstances or living arrangements so it will hard to give more specific information. As far as going to acquire a weapon, never mention anything about harm or suicide, just say you want one for self-defense, target shooting, and/or hunting.

I currently live in Queens and work in Manhattan. I could take the Long Island Railroad from NYC to Long Island (I was born there and lived there for the first 18 years of my life, so I know certain areas of Long Island very well). The problem is if I buy something as big as a shotgun, it would be hard to hide when I get back home to my apartment. My boyfriend knows I've been suicidal in the past, so if he finds a shotgun, it will raise a lot of red flags.

That is a fucked up law they have that in Canada too but what if you are a loner completely asocial and just want to enjoy shooting alone then you can´t get a gun because you don´t know anyone that can attest for you.

yea...it's a fucked up law. Not all states have it, but NY (especially NYC) is especially strict.

Most of my friends know about my history with depression because I've been hospitalized for suicidal ideation in the past. So asking them definitely wouldn't work. I don't think they'll believe me if I suddenly develop an interest in hunting out of the blue

Most modern shotguns --especially pump-action shotguns-- easily disassemble into barrel + receiver/action/stock with a single thumbscrew. Each of the two pieces is only about 20" long, so they're small enough to fit into a gym bag.

As for buying a handgun without a permit in NYC --forget it. Not unless you have access to the black market. NYC is notoriously stringent in their regulation; far worse than CA, even. If buying a shotgun is the most plausible route to gun ownership, that's the route to explore.
