  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I picked up a coloring book. one with a wholesome saying for 365 days. it's a calendar so I figure I'll make me want to color it and see this nice saying every day.

no idea if it'll work.

anyone color to cope?

Although I used to do it digitally on a computer, with a program for art and coloring... yes, art even if it's for coloring can distract a lot at times and help.

Me too. I'm truly an artist it's the only thing that I really care for in life. All kinds, digital traditional clay painting drawings etc, photoshop and illustrator. It's one thing that's been a constant in my life. Soon I will start doing it again after some spring cleaning.

I used to be an artist, an archaeological illustrator and a graphic designer.
When my anxiety was through the roof due to unmanaged chronic illness, my sister got me a colouring book for my birthday.
I told her to fuck off.
Go figure, I was deeply insulted. I guess everyone is different.
She was on the right track though, I needed a distraction, but one I could enjoy. I went back to gaming and fuelled that addiction for a while to focus my mind and lessen the anxiety.
But no, I can't create if I'm not in the right frame of mind. I need to be relaxed and open to it.

I used to draw all day every day! It's a good way to get your mind off things. What I like to do is look at my really old drawings and see how much I've improved. It makes me feel proud and hopeful for the future.

But art has also caused me lots of stress and sorrow. That mightve just been because I was aiming to be a career animator back in the day. Art classes are wayyyyy too much pressure and stress so I'm glad I didnt pursue art any further. But now when I'm feeling sad, I cant bring myself to draw. I just get reminded of how pointless it is, and how I'm a failure art kid.

Crafts like crochet and knitting were a lot more helpful for me. Very procedural, distracting, and easy to learn, and you get to make a "thing" that is actually concrete and useful. I started getting really bad wrist pain though, so I havent crocheted in a while.

I sometimes colour and I've taken to playing Yahtzee. I bought a paper-and-dice pack. I haven't played since I was young but it helps to pass the time in a relaxing way...

i used to crochet. was helpful for a while, years. then i guess i just stopped and can't get back to it. same with cross-stitch. needle felting i was terrible at, but it was quite therapeutic to stab something over and over again.
