Hey guys so ive been trying to get better and ive been looking into things I can do to portray how im feeling and to get that hold off me. I know everyone says that you can just journal or write things down but that just doesnt do it for me, im not good with words nor do i really put much of myself into them. It just doesnt capture the sense id be wanting to escape. I just want to be able to put myself into something and I have only really looked into a few artists that I liked.
Idk maybe you guys can list some resources to help but ill drop the artists.

I used to draw and it kinda helped. Would draw whatever animal fit my mood at the time. Sometimes I would draw groups of "facial expressions" on animals too. Not too creative, but it was something I suppose.

Animal Crossing used to help too. Played it for about ten years to try and cope with depression. You can build your town, island, whatever however you would like, have little animal villagers to suit your home.

If you try painting, you might want to experiment with acrylics because they dry faster than oils.

If you try sculpting, you may want to use plaster of paris in a milk carton that will give you something to experiment with that is easy to carve. wood and a Dremel tool can also be interesting.

If you have an interest in videos, there is free slideshow software you can use to and compose a series of pictures and effects to go with the music you like.

I have found making art to be helpful. Either darker art to express moods, depression. More often in the past it was abstract colorful pastels and collages. I'm getting back to it again over the last month. I was in an art therapy group for 6 years straight...we all were each others' audiences, for the art we made in that group. A very supportive audience for each other. Now, I have no "audience" I have to be my own validator as to whether or not my art is pleasing. But it can be very healing to do, and expressive. I wish you the best.

I am writing an alternate history novel set in the world of British politics from 1912 to 1948: the point of divergence from our historical timeline is in May 1915. I find research and writing quite therapeutic. Several of my characters ctb, and others have depression. I can bring up some of my own feelings, but in disguise. As Emily Dickinson once wrote, I strive to "tell the truth, but tell it slant."
