  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

does anyone here suffer from brain fog? I'm under the assumption that brain fog is a symptom of depression or some other comorbidity. i'm planning on doing some research myself to find something optimal, but i'd like a hint as to where i should begin. is there anything I can take to reduce brain fog or boost cognitive performance?

Well, isnt very clear what kind of "brain fog" you're suffering. I have depression and my brain unfortunatelly works fast but corrupted. Brain fog can be any other mental disease, vitamin D used to work in some cases. 5000ui at first if you are not a "sun" person you can try 10.000ui daily to boost your brain, just take care because hepatitis from suplements are real, but you should give a try. Pure taurine is also good for brain and body, can make you feel less "foggy" but it's too "vague" your brain fog description.

it isn't something that i can easily describe. i guess i would sort of define it as a lack of energy and cognitive power. i can speak of it nominally because it isn't a constant feature of my day-to-day life. there are periods when i can think clearly, whereas other times i might have trouble grasping the most basic of terms. i find that it goes away at times when my diet is in order, though it's not exactly a full-proof way of eradicating it completely.

pure taurine sounds interesting. i exercise frequently and take creatine almost every day. i wonder how taurine will interact with the creatine. i will have to read up on the literature.

Sounds like a plan to me, pure taurine you'll get more energy and focus. The amount on energy drinks are unconsiderable, I used to take 2 pills in the mornings and worked hard with focus till 5 pm. Maybe you're entering in a depressive process, so maybe you should schedule a doctor to prescribe you some light anti depressant (there's a lot of cases that brain fog disappears after 20 days of the right drug, so you surely should try this).

been there, done that. i'd rather conduct my own research than trust psychiatrists again.

i've also been using nicotine to try to alleviate some of my brain fog. i've become increasingly dependent on smoking, though as time progressed it became less and less effective. if supplements fail to work, then i might consult a specialist again. but that's a last resort

I've had brain fog for like 12 years now. It was scary at first now it's just like im more used to it. But it's worse I think
The only thing that helps is being in nature or doing instead of thinking

yes, i've also done that. the problem for me is that i try to force myself to construct sentences in my own mind and end up dumbfounded at my own inability to think, which is why i can't enjoy nature anymore. but did you a GP? was there anything that you could do to try to alleviate it?

I understand, psychiastrists most of the times use us as guinea pigs, try and error. I can't even remember all the drug's names that I've been taking for years, so that's really a good point.
Did you know something about psilocybin? There are some researches about positive effect on brain using microdosing. I havent tried yet but it's pretty sure I'm going to try very soon.
Have you tried a keto diet, low or zero carb diet? Improves my overall health everytime I do, but it's not for everyone.

not psilocybin, but a low carb diet yes, albeit not zero. it isn't fully sustainable for me, so i have trouble maintaining it. overall i think i'd say that my diet is fairly good. i should probably pay attention to nutrition a lot more, however. a consequence of brain fog is that i lose the capacity to retain a lot of facts. my mind is rather jumbled at the moment even typing this.

as for psilocybin, i wouldn't even know where to begin looking for that stuff. i want to try it alongside marijuana (not simultaneously, of course)

Psilocybin mushrooms are easy to find online, I live in brazil and can buy it normally, it's not illegal here or something, of course there's no regulation yet because people are more interested in recreative use, mostly. I dont know where you live but it's a very common type of mushroom and they are usually sold dry for easy dosage. Youll need a precision scale because the microdosing is something like 0.03 grams or something like that. I would give a try, there's no risk except the overdose, but it's a common sense for any substance, even coffee.

Here is information about mild cognitive impairment. These symptoms are similar to MDD and/or side effects from medications like Topamax. This medication made me incredibly stupid! :pfff:

i don't think its an early onset of alzheimer's, since mine occurs on-and-off and not to the degree with which the article portrays it. but interesting read nonetheless

i will look into this. i've also been researching drugs like modafinil. i'll look into whether or not there is any determinate cognitive improvement while micro-dosing on psilocybin, since i could potentially alternate between the two, if i can get my hands on the former

I understand because brain fog feels different for me when taking Topamax, ED, or MDD-anhedonia. This persistent brain fog feels similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I take Adderall, and while I feel it kick in, I am still extremely tired and cognitively slow.

I hope your treatments produce good results. Please let us know if psilocybin or modafinil worked.

Treatment for brain fog depends if it's environmental, psychological, physiological or even neurological.

Mine is a mix of psychological and physiological, and a combination of a lot of Vitamin D (5,000 IU) and training using resistance bands helps a lot of the more severe symptoms, enough to last the day.

Before you go on any medication (especially psych meds), they should give you a blood test to rule out other causes. You can even get a regular blood test by just asking your doctor.
