I realize I might prefer less reliability if it means less body risk when an attempt fails.

I heard sn was low risk, but if hypoxia happens, that seems to have big consequences. so I wondered if there are alternatives, based on this?

All of them have risk. I think the "safest" is drowning alone at night because you are under water anyways. Nothing is saving you from that.

Hypoxia is a risk for most methods because the goal of every method is to get you to stop breathing. Just because something can happen doesn't mean it will. SN is generally one of the options with the least risk attached.

Guillotine absolutely can fail. And if it does it will likely leave you in a state worse than death.
