• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I know this might sound silly, but I've been wondering: the number of people who die by suicide worldwide is really small, right?
So, for the people who are alive now and don't have mental health issues, do they really want to live? Like, do they live without ever thinking about wanting to die?
I've never really understood this for a long time...
(I edited a few sentences.)

Yes, they want to live. If they didn't want to live, I don't think that they would oppose suicide that much. I also don't understand why they want to live but my personal guess is just due to how their neurotype is like. In my case, I see all types of suffering and hardship as bad and as something that I should avoid as much as possible but, in their case, they see it as a challenge to overcome and be grateful about.

It's so strange but I personally think that indoctrination has something to do regarding this too. In cartoons and movies, there's this concept that gets taught of somebody going through hardship and fighting through it. It's always related to fighting no matter what and not once thinking about the wider picture, about whether any of this is useful or not. Even back in my school, the teachers said the same thing about fighting no matter what and being resilient.

External circumstances make me suicidal and cause depressive episodes.

I prefer to live my life yet I can't despite I'm healthy and I'm in my best years. That's killing me and probably will lead to CTB should my life quality decline further.

The vast majority of people is happy with their lives, that's as simple as that.

Once the "fire" is extinguished it's difficult to get it burning again. And imo once suicidal thoughts take over there's not much energy left.

Most people have better lives than us and more to look forward too. As civilization collapses, and the economy continues to get worse, it will slowly become apparent how delusional they were.

Some definitely do. Maybe most. It's hard to tell really. I know plenty of miserable, exhausted people who aren't happy with their life. I'm not sure they actually want to end it though. Which honestly, baffles me too because I doubt many would be able to change their lives substantially.

Of course they do and they wich to be immortal. In the end we are biorobots and we are programmed for reproduction and care of the brood what is only possible if we stay alive. Young suicides are a software bug. Old suicides are in accordance with nature, because nature wants us to dirappear when our mission is accomplished. Aging in not software based but hard wired.

I dont think that everyone wants to live; I know people who were suicidal for a long time, but got out of it. They want to live now, mainly because their lifes are temporarily easy and enjoyable. They feel joy from their life as of right now, but it can change one day. The number is small, in my opinion, because of how hard it is for most of people to get past their SI, finding the right method, or even acquiring what's needed to CTB. And they might also be thinking of what will others think of them if they find out they were suicidal, so I believe people are either temporarily willing to live, or are scared of dying.

I'd personally never wish to exist, I find existing to be deeply undesirable in every way, as long as I exist I'll only ever wish and hope to never exist again, I only wish for non-existence. I truly was never meant for any of this and I never should have suffered at all, I find it such a cruel, futile burden to exist, I'd always prefer to die than prolong all this suffering just to be tormented by old age.

I Agree . U @FuneralCry and many others on this site are under age 25. But imo u all know more about reality than many who want to work 15 fucking hours per day working a job chores risking extreme torture for no objective reason. All to get old . Is it rational to want to get old ? I don't think so . Imo We on this site are not the mental patients ...

i can't really understand why anyone would want to live. maybe im just too deep into some nihilism, though i dont really call myself nihilistic, but i cannot force myself to see the point of life, or feel any desire to live. i think if someone is not suicidal, they have to just be too distracted all the time. if youre too busy working, in school, hanging out with friends, taking care of kids, watching tv, whatever.
its possible my perception could just be fully wrong, but i cant see another reason why people wouldnt be suicidal, they have to just be too distracted to even think about it
