• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Since I was a kid I standed out in IQ tests, I can easily get in a test over 140 IQ, and I've suffered of depression from a young age, I've been told and read a couple times people with high IQ tend to suicide more and suffer from depression. Do you think it has something to do?

I think there is some relation with intelligent people being able to think about the world differently and finding out that life has no meaning. In turn, they decide that the vast majority of life is bullshit and there is no point to continuing life, therefore, death is better than life. I'm not saying that all intelligent people think this way, but intelligent people do see the world in a very, very different light than most average people.

As far as my IQ, I'd say, I'm just above average and while I'm not a super genius being able to figure out a lot of stuff or think as deep as some of the philosophers, I do tend to be a skeptic and do think deeply at times...

There is already considerable research that shows (1) internationally, there's an inverse relationship between mean IQ and homicide, and (2) internationally, there's a direct relationship between mean IQ and suicide. (For example, I Templer, Donald & Joy Connelly, Heather & Lester, David & Arikawa, Hiroko & Mancuso, Leah. (2007). Relationship of IQ to suicide and homicide rate: An international perspective. Psychological Reports. 100. 108-12.)

Maybe everywhere smarter people are less likely to fall for the irrational, hypocritical, vacuous moralistic pro-life arguments.

I wouldn't say that high intelligence has something to do with suicide, but I would argue that it is correlated to depression, which can lead to suicide.

At the social level, I believe that people with high intelligence tend to overanalyze, and over rationalize, certain social situations. I believe this is because they are skeptical of other humans. They can see the fault of humankind, and therefore, chose not to get involved in the disarray of human interaction, ultimately leading to their isolation.

In the intuitive self, intelligent people are often more critical of their skills and capabilities. They hold high standards for themselves, and when they cannot perform, they end up criticizing and demeaning themselves over the smallest details.

At the most rudimentary level, intelligent people are not normal. They find it difficult to hold intellectual conversations with other people, and fit in with the rest of society. They are outcasts, only because they see the world differently from regular members of society. This self-rejection ultimately leads to depression, which can trigger suicidal ideations.

Absolutely. Intelligent people are more introspective and more likely to anticipate negative outcomes. Stupid people don't reflect enough to get depressed and because they don't like to think about negative outcomes, they see the world through rose tinted glasses.

I think people like to believe in the depressed misunderstood genius stereotype. I guess everyone wants to feel special. But I'm not sure how much of it is real.

Depression and anxiety don't care about you. They don't care about how much money you have. They don't care about how successful, or important or attractive you are. ...and they also don't care about how intelligent you think you are.

I'd assume that the two sides of the bell curve of intelligence both have a higher chance of suicide than the middle.
Also, when you took said IQ tests were they official tests or some bullshit online IQ test?
