  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I had a good life last year. Easy to talk to people, life was easy. Then I started drinking and smoking. I feel as that's damaged my brain, my vocabulary is all over the place and I'm socially anxious. I put my head up in public but it only goes half way up then it keeps going down. Will drinking/smoking more help. I feel like doing both has damaged my brain. I want to know if at a certain point the brain gets accustomed to it. I know plenty of people my age who drink and smoke and are fine.

It's very... odd to even think of drinking as something you start. I cannot really understand the concept of an adult who orders a coke or something with their meal. As for drinking-until-blind-drunk, most teenagers do that for a while because they are teenagers (actually I'm thinking of undergrads as well).

I won't even say anything about smoking and brain damage. Smoking damages a lot of stuff, but cognitive functions is not one of them.

How old are you, if you don't mind?

I'm 18. I just can't make conversation anymore. I don't see a social future. My brain feels fucked.

Have you been drinking to get completely wasted? How often? And, has there been any other changes in your life than these new habits?

Only a few episodes of binge intoxication(8-8) and about 15 cigarettes. Since I started smoking I blink when I look at people. I can't stand it. I blink excessively and this makes me look like a creep. Smoking does damage the brain. The stuff in cigarettes are called neurotoxins for a reason. Plus check out eat studies and cigarettes.

Hmm, I honestly never heard of observable effects like that, though hardcore addicts get nervous if they cannot smoke for a while. In any case smoking is as unhealthy as habits get, so definitely a good idea to quit if you can. I'd also stay clear of binge drinking.

Perhaps you should stop drinking and smoking.
Each person is different. Maybe you are not suited to it.
People who seem to cope fine with it may slowly be damaging themselves over time, and later in life may have regrets, whereas if you stop now then you may end up much better off than them.....

Perhaps you should find new ways of socialising.
eg you could join some different clubs based on your interests ?

Perhaps there are better types of people you can spend time with, who don't put pressure on you to drink / smoke....

The real question is? Why did u start drinking and smoking? The question behind addiction is not why the addiction but why the pain? Typically we self medicate to feel better and avoid having to feel uncomfortable feelings and to avoid difficult stuff.

I doubt this has don't that to you but let's be real. Nothing good comes out of drinking and smoking. You should go get an MRI of your brain.
