  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I originally joined because I felt myself falling off, but after a few days of thinking, I'm going to try my best to keep pushing. Won't get into that, instead I'll ask you all this.

Is there a piece of media you just have to stay alive for? It can be a TV show, movie, book, video game; even just a certain youtuber to make a video or something. I think many of us feel a bit of shame by only living for something as "menial" as that, but anything preventing you from CTB is never something to be embarrassed about.

For me, I'm waiting to play the new Animal Crossing :)) Anyone else?

I really love this post as for myself answering this question, on days that I feel like giving up crafts keep me strong. I knit blankets for various charities and I know they mean an lot to the animals and people that get them. It's just a little thing but at the moment it's what keeps me motivated

season 4 of wynonna earp! if syfy slates it to come out after my planned ctb date, i'll literally postpone it. it's my favorite show.

there's also a few movies i'd like to see before i ctb, and a lot of my favorite musical artists are releasing new stuff in 2020. not a huge reader, but the new hunger games book has certainly piqued my interest. 10-year-old me would be squealing with joy if she knew that suzanne collins wrote another book.

Waiting for "Mount and Blade 2" and "Cyberpunk 2077". I can't leave this world without playing those games first :D
And of course playing all "Witcher" games over and over.

But mostly it's music that keeps me going, without it I would be gone long ago. Pink Floyd, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Deep Purple. Without them I'm nothing.

And movies too, it's always good time to re-watch "LOTR" for 20th time or "Godfather".

And I still have a plenty of books to read.

Movies.

I've had a free perk data from my ever loving telecom provider ... ( I always write sarcstically grateful comments on their review requests ... small pleasures ... and always rate them 10/10 )

So ... I torrent low def movies. I've been working my way through my life time exposure to the movies.

Some obscure stuff I saw on TV as a kid ... that left an impact ...
Some big deals for me from the cinema ... a few TRAUMA inducers ( Eraserhead ... I could only click through it ...
I remember watching it at nineteen , sitting next to my 1st gf ... sweating profusely in the grip of terror . )

And I've almost done the load .

So now , some new stuff , and things I missed ...

Saw "Pain and Glory " colour magic !

"Coriolanus" jesus h christ . Blew me away .

I think I live inside a movie .

Also torrent some old sounds ... I lovingly transferred "Along the rooftops" by the blue nile onto an mp3 file via audacity years ago and today I'm sucking down a flac file .

Culture is not your friend , but ... oh well .

I love Eraserhead. Didn't like it the first time round, I wanted more of a story but this is David Lynch we're talking about. Second time I knew what I was getting and I must have seen it a good ten times now

I can't get beyond the first terror.
It was a packed cinema , hot , claustrophobic ... no way out.
I was pretending to be cool , social anxiety on over drive ... ( and I didn't know what it was at the time )

Any way , I'm happy for you @Mr2005 ... one mans meat is anothers poison as they say ... :sunglasses:

I got right off on twin peaks ... I'm having a peak at imdb ...
Probably some others I've enjoyed .

People are strange. A friend of mine got really freaked by a film called Society I had on. I then went round to his and he had the latest Rambo on. I couldn't believe how violent it was. I asked him about it and he said "this doesn't bother me because it could actually happen in real life". There might be some logic in there somewhere but I can't find it. I think things can be disturbing in a good way or a bad way. My issue is a moral one. I like strange and surreal primarily it's just that occasionally that descends into sick and twisted

Now these intertwine far too much in life ... unless thats just part of my disfunctional view ...

We are strange in what presses our buttons ...

btw .. torrenting the first series one of twin peaks ! yowsa ... haven't seen that for thirty years ... it was a high point of the week back in the day .

"this doesn't bother me because it could actually happen in real life".

Is it that it isn't real , or that it is ?

I can understand the non real so ok ... but the real so ok is a bit unusual to me ...

I have always loathed supernatural horror because I was raised on 'demon fear' .. so it was all too real to me .

sorry if this is overly pedantic ...

Not at all. An interesting little side chat we've started :) I guess if he's really worried the things in society are real then it makes more sense but his statement doesn't. I don't realistically have to concern myself with mutant babies or ladies in the radiator (that would actually be quite neat). Violent lunatics who've seen too much Rambo though? Check. Guy turned out to be pretty crazy in his own right. Not in the way he made out but the fact he wanted everyone to think he was crazy was crazy. Or just a way of him getting his own way. "If you don't do this for me I'm killing myself" . I'd hear that regularly and it grew tiresome. Btw Twin peaks  I watched this before Eraserhead so explains why I thought they'd be more plot but that was Mark Frosts doing. The combination is what made it work

My misery spans Craigs entire tenure. Whilst I don't hold him responsible (that would be insane) Clive Owen not getting the part was indicative that everything was about to go wrong

@Mr2005
There are folk who do not acheive traction with the emotional/art connection.

Lieraturephobes who avoid meaning and drown in diverting or 'informative' (historical) fiction ... etc

It took me ages to work that out.
It's just a different form of avoidance I guess.

I was exactly the same I guess ...eg Erasorhead just skewered me in ALL my neurosis before I had identified them ...
that was NOT what the movies were about !

Some information is enlightening and too much too quickly is traumatic.

True. Some people don't want to think, it scares them. I have my sources of amusement for that but it'll never change my life like some things can. It's just two hours to waste then forget
