When I see deaths (not suicide) over the news, I get a bit jealous. Say, someone dies in a car accident, I say, "damn, what a lucky guy, I wish that was me." The grim reaper already did the suicidal person's dirty work for them. No disrespect to these lucky/unlucky people, just a sincere yearning for death.

I think this is extremely common amongst suicidal people. The "here one moment, gone the next" is what most with the mindset wish for.

Yeah, unexpected and more or less instant death is ideal. I'd certainly prefer to be snuck up on and shot in the back of the head rather than be in a crashing car, though. While plenty of car crashes entail nearly instant death, there's a few seconds or so of terror.

Someone was telling me the other day how there was a "horrible" car crash and 3 people died. I had to try very hard to not say they were lucky etc. That is always my reaction.

I feel the same way. Someone I was close with died by suicide 2 years ago, and my first reaction was why didn't she do it with me? I'm so jealous that she's dead.

Many years ago, I used to religiously follow the crew of guys who formed Giantbomb.com (a video game related website). They were sort of my personal "friendship simulator", if you will. I found them all as a cadre to both be insightful, funny & informative, but round about 2012 I kinda drifted away from them. Anyway, there was this one guy part of the group (Ryan Davis) who eventually ended up dying of sleep apnea which, as far as I know, is completely painless. You just go to sleep one night and don't wake up. Needless to say, but I was, and still am, quite envious of his great fortune in being blessed with such a wondrously merciful end. He was the jolliest motherfucker alive, at least he always came across that way, and, in many ways, he died utterly happy & contented. Even if I had all the money/power in the world, I'd never be able to acquire something as rare & ephemeral like that for myself. So again, he was one lucky fucking bastard. Him and every other dopey Pollyanna who perishes in a sudden, painless & unexpected way. The delusional masochists who want to do nothing else, but keep on living end up having their lives cut short. Whereas the more enlightened among us who want nothing more than a graceful exit from all this misery, are blighted with the misfortune to keep on living and thereby to keep on suffering. What bitter irony, but that's the Demiurge for you.

I sometimes want to know I'm going to die but I think it's the way of survival instinct for not letting me go. To be honest, I think the best for me is the insta-death.

Sleep apnea doesn't kill you, rather it increases the likelihood of other conditions which kill you such as coronary heart disease. Unfortunately it also increases the risk of getting a strike which can leave you much worse off! I have sleep apnea, and the things it can lead to would definitely concern me if I planned on being alive that long.

Damn, I didn't know that. How frightening. I guess that guy I mentioned (Ryan Davis) really was lucky then. After all, better to die in your sleep then suffer a permanently crippling stroke. He really dodged a bullet there, I'd say.
