• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

What are people's favourite places they have travelled? Was it because of the things to do/see, really friendly people, good food?

There are several answers.

Some people travel to places where it is warm. There are people who just sit in the hotel and do nothing else.

There are people who travel to countries with mountains.
To be able to walk in the mountains or go skiing, for example.

There are people who travel to historical places.
For example, people fascinated by the Roman Empire like to travel to Rome.

There are people who travel to places where they can commune with nature.
For example, Antarctica.

There are people who travel to places where they can see popular things.
For example, the Giza pyramids.

There are people who...

The answers can be multiplied.
Of course, reasons for traveling can be combined.
For example, you can go to Rome to see the architecture and eat typical Italian food.

I'm from central Canada and by now I've ridden a bicycle almost all across Canada, just missing Northern Ontario. Not a lot of things are better than being on the road with everything you need to survive. Sleeping in ditches and public parks. Water from creeks [iodine tabs necessary].

I've driven down the west coast of the USA and then explored the SW, then up to Chicago and Montreal and back across Canada to Vancouver. That was completed in a camper-converted minivan.

And I've been to Iceland which involved lots of hiking and culture, beautiful scenery, northern lights.

Favourite is probably cycle touring.

But Iceland is a volcanic island, so the geology was pretty enchanting. It's hard to compare expedition cycling to doing the tourist thing in a different country. Both were really good.

Truth be told I'm only really myself when I'm traveling.

Depends what for. Washington DC is a great place for historical stuff and it's still big city but not Philadelphia levels.

The Mississippi delta is a place not normally thought of, but the blues music, food, and people down there are great, especially Clarksdale. Just proceed with caution in Memphis, as Memphis' crime problem has gotten incredibly bad, but all the test of that area is fine.

Mexico on the gulf, you don't beat those beaches.
