Most of my ex's have been friends of a female friend that I ended up meeting by pure chance and had fun with me.

Further, you are picking up the habit of calling them "females" from somewhere. That place is probably not full of great advice. I daresay it may give the opposite.

I wouldn't listen to people who either have no success with women or have completely superficial success with women (eg hookups only).

I feel it's hard because I never really felt that big of an attraction to the concept of a relationship. I can't even maintain a healthy one with myself. The one time that somebody expressed some such interest, I felt really guilty because I know she couldn't depend on me for anything of that sort. That's like trying to buy an apartment in a building that's barely standing and soon to crumble. I don't want a relationship but I also don't want to live to the point where I can look back and regret not having had one. Supposing absolutely everything was ok, I assume I wouldn't turn down that idea but I can't imagine myself, under any circumstances, expressing an interest in someone.

The immediate strikes are no car and live with your mom. But there's always someone willing to accept that. Why don't you try some dating sites just to get you comfortable. It will help pass time and you won't feel lonely. You can video chat, text, etc. I think that would be a good start for you.

Well I think there are cultural shifts that have occurred that make women far less open to men on the whole these days. It's likely not anything you're doing wrong specifically. I mean okay, it's better if you live alone and have a car but I don't think that's the reason you're single. However you do need a unique circumstance where it just so happens to work out with someone.

I'll be honest, it looks like a lot of luck and/or legwork these days and I myself couldn't be assed at this point. I was lucky enough to have lived in a more "open" era where love and hookups were more commonplace, and people were more receptive to what could potentially be out there.

Bear in mind though that many of these shifts I'm referencing have their roots in male obnoxiousness, whether it's sexual assault, stalking, or just general creepiness. People now are more guarded and that's probably justified, given the amount of danger and shitty behavior women are opening themselves up to on a daily basis just by being themselves.

There's also the issue of social media and receiving surface-level validation without having to physically engage with someone. For a lot of people, that's preferable.

Trying the modern dating scene was miserable for me with nothing but rejection until I met my now-wife. Frustration is valid.

Us males don't deserve to have our existence acknowledged, well at least not me. Height? I'm six feet tall and I still haven't received a single ounce of womanly attraction.
