Final Advice needed (ammo for Mossberg 88)

I'm getting a Mossberg 88 with a pistol grip stock. 3"

I need recs on the bullet to get
00 Buckshot - I know nothing about guns, just what I have read and I know by name and what was posted only. Apparently buckshots come with pellet quantities - what quantity is best?
Slugs - I know nothing about these either, only that it's essentially a big bullet. Are there hollowpoints? Are these more difficult to use for my method, or more effective?

I'm looking for massive immediate damage to overwhelmingly annihilate the brain stem/medulla/pons location - no pain, no suffering. So whatever totally wrecks my shit, I want the best kind. No concern for gore, I'll be very dead by the time I notice. Any recommendations? :)

My method is just past my teeth, parallel to the tongue, pointed 10-15* upwards.

At point blank range it doesn't really make any difference what kind of shell you use. The result will be devestating. But #4 buckshot, 00 buckshot, or a slug is usually recommended, but like i said at point blank range any shell is devestating, including tiny birdshot. Maybe tiny birdshot is even the most devestating I don't know. You can look at shotgun tests on Youtube and see what they do.

Don't want to be TMI but birdshot was the way my little brother (23) CTB. Insane amount of small pellets that basically blended his brains inside of his skull, explained by his autopsy. Intra-oral was his method at about the same degree. He was gone instantly. Dunno if this helps.

There is no spread at point blank range.

Likewise, Dex, I am sorry for your loss, but thank you for the information. I've never seen birdshot recommended but it was my idea that it might actually be the best for this purpose.

I also do not want to see gore. I've seen enough bad stuff on this planet already...

The information is priceless to me, thank you. Mess does not matter to me, and more is better because that means it's more damaging - more effective. I'm doing this in the bathroom I think, so it is isolated to a smaller space.

I'll have to get buckshot that has more pellets rather than less if it's available. But either way it should be more than acceptable from what it sounds like.

It takes quite a distance for shotgun pellets to start spreading. At point blank range everything will be just the size of the hole at the end of the gun barrel, that is the size of the shell size itself.

The last thing I want to be is argumentative here, and I agree with your first sentence, but not with the second. At point black range both a slug and buckshot or birdshot form a pretty much solid mass weighing about an ounce with the same diameter, .729 inches in the case of a 12 gauge The birdshot tho, depending on its size, might have 150 little pellets in it that could break apart and spread out on impact and scramble things up even more, so I'm leaning towards that now. The videos, and comments under them, that I posted above give some evidence to that assertion. I'm thinking now that birdshot might make you even more dead than a solid slug. :)

PS I know more about handguns than shotguns.
