is it possible to readjust the rope over and over as im laying in bed until i get the sweet spot and pass out or does it not work that way?

I mean....I guess? You would have to untie and retie the rope each time, because if you're actually tying the rope as tightly as you would need to in order to ctb, its position really shouldn't be adjustable once you tie it. But if you're still conscious, you can basically do whatever you want. If you wanted to use the rope as a lasso and pretend to be Indiana Jones before tying the rope around your sweet spot, you could do that, too.

Though I'm guessing that if you're making a post like this, then you're having a hard time finding the sweet spot...just like the vast, vast majority of people who flirt with the night-night method. And then there are problems with finding it consistently enough to overcome SI around it, and then there are problems with managing to apply strong enough, sustainable enough force around it before passing out, and don't even get me started with the fucking cornhole bags...I've been toying with writing a "The Night-Night Method is Bullshit" thread, but part of me feels like it's too spicy a thread for a newbie to write 🙃

Anyway, wishing you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do!

I, uh, don't think that'll work? It's, like, really hard to tie a noose tightly enough around your neck such that it applies strong enough and consistent enough pressure to your carotid arteries to create and maintain a state of cerebral hypoxia. If it were possible to do for most people, there would be literally no need for suspension hanging. And even in full suspension hanging, when you're using the force of your full body weight to tighten the noose, the noose never gets tight enough to fully constrict the carotid arteries by itself - maintaining cerebral hypoxia in such cases relies on the positioning of the neck and the body relative to the noose and the anchor point. That's why, in videos where people fully hang themselves erotically, it suffices for safety purposes to simply lower a person to the ground once they pass out, rather than to literally cut the person out of the noose.

And while I'm normally quite open to being wrong, in this case I'd actually pretty strongly encourage you not to test this out. Even though I don't think you can ctb using this method, you can still give yourself temporary hypoxia by fucking around with a noose, which exposes you to the risk of brain damage if you're not careful.

Regarding using a nonadjustable knot, consider that you would first need to wrap the rope around your neck tightly enough to cut off your carotid arteries. At this point, if you're doing it right (and as I'm sure you know, it's very hard to do it right), you have ~10 seconds until you pass out, and less time than that before you lose conscious control of your limbs (and that's if you're lucky - for me it's closer to 5 seconds). That means you have 10 seconds to tie your knot, backwards and behind your head (because the knot's best position is behind your right ear), not at an angle (because otherwise the rope will fall down and loosen), all without lessening the force you're applying to the rope (which will inevitably happen because the muscles you use for maximizing force applied to the rope are not the same muscles you use for dexterously manipulating the rope into a knot), and all while lying down? All while you are actively passing out? And I haven't even mentioned the other properties of rope (e.g. its elasticity, its friction, its thickness) that make this task even harder.

It's just very, very difficult to do. I don't know of anyone who's ever successfully ctb using just a rope, without suspension or other materials involved.

In Five Last Acts, they recommend a reef knot for the ligature method, which is similar to night-night. You might want to look further into that if night-night doesn't work for you. Also make sure you don't accidentally make it a slip knot. It's tied similarly to a reef knot but comes loose easily, so follow the instructions with care.

ive just tried this but it doesnt seem to be what i was looking for, when i tighten it around my neck and let go of it, it comes loose pretty quick, am i missing something? 5mm nylon rope btw

My idea was to use 3 socks, 2 are in a ball and pushing on the carotids, one holds them in place, and tied. Not tested, although when I squeezed with fingers for 1 or 2 seconds, the internal pulsing took slightly longer and at higher pressure.
