  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I don't know if this has been done before. But I just wanted to create a thread to take a second to think about the things we can be grateful for in our lives... think about the positive side.

Anyone who wants to do it is welcome😁.

I want to thank the people who love me. I am grateful for my body, because at least I can do things I like and with it I can support the people I love. I know that I constantly think about the past, about the people who are no longer here or the things I have lost. But I would like to be grateful for what I have, and for the people who are still in my life and the ones who have arrived. I want to thank God for all of this... and for being alive.

Hello and thank you @Makoto,
Even though today I feel so low,
I am deeply grateful for this thread,
And for considerate words [1] you spread!

I suppose, gratitude is a skill [2],
So I'd like to practice it here.
I hope my post is not overkill -
Now my heart shifted into top gear!

For my healthy body, thanks the Lord -
Every day, at the gym my heart pounds.
And when I bench press sixty-six pounds [3]-
I gain more muscle as a reward!

I've vented about my depression,
But people here has been by my side.
Thank you, friends on Sanctioned Suicide -
A platform for our self-expression!

Notes:
[1] For example:
[2] My "gratitude journal" became vague and banal whenever I tried to start it, so I gave up. I needed another approach to practice gratitude.
[3] I'm 37F and my bench press stuck on 66 lbs (30 kg)😂

They say you don't know what you have until it's gone.

I had a lot of physical problems which at one point left me practically bedbound and in pain.

Since then I have pretty much made a full revovery on that side and I am so grateful for all the little things I can do

Just standing in the kitchen and baking a cake
Going for a walk whenever I feel like it
Going for a run
Being able to play video games
Reading a book (yes I couldn't even do this)

There is loads more but just generally having a healthy painfree body is such a blessing

My NHS Care Coordinator and Psychologist are fab. Even though they want to section me at the moment, they're doing everything they can to avoid it. As to the wider MH team… they can go do one.

thank you very much too😁.
66lbs is not bad at all. I have also started going to the gym recently and it greatly improves mental clarity and energy.

I'm grateful for coffee, it's tasty and helps me feel better in the morning.
yessssss :)... nothing better that a good coffee in the morning.

I was in the hospital for a while due to an operation... and there is nothing like tasting freedom again... it's just like you say, it makes you appreciate all the little things that you previously took for granted (I'm glad you can read books again)

My NHS Care Coordinator and Psychologist are fab. Even though they want to section me at the moment, they're doing everything they can to avoid it. As to the wider MH team… they can go do one.

You're lucky... it's sometimes difficult to find good doctors you can trust... I'm very happy for you. :)

I am grateful for all of the nice things I have. My gaming computer and television. I am greatful to have my sister. And I am grateful to be alive during the AI revolution because it's very fun to interact with AI bots.

I am also grateful to live in a timeline where longform YouTube video essays are a thing. And also grateful to have been alive during Kendrick Lamar's brutal takedown of Drake in the hit song "Not Like Us"

I also am glad to live in the age of endlessly replayable live service videogame content such as Destiny, Fortnite, Genshin Impact, Borderlands, and WarFrame to name a few. It ensures that I will never have an excuse to be bored for a single day in my life.

I'm so grateful I didn't give in to despair. I'm grateful I stuck around to meet a wonderful woman who I will share the rest of my life with, and for the first time in 20 years I'm confident that life will be worthwhile.

I'm grateful I tried instead of giving up. Shutting down and removing yourself from the world sounds nice but now after several mixed-to-crappy jobs I have a career I can feel good about. I'm not just grinding, I'm handling things and being paid for my intellect, so it doesn't feel like a total waste of time. It's allowed me to buy a home, pursue my hobbies, take time off whenever needed, and - of course - support those I care about. I'm able to live with my wife and sleep with her every day without being at the mercy of someone else paying for it.

I'm grateful for every person I've had a good interaction with, and even those that have been some-good-some-bad, because it's made me a much different person than when I was bitter, arrogant, and angry. People are good, or at least trying to be, and I'm grateful I know that now.

And of course, I'm grateful for SS, because I wouldn't be here otherwise.
