  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I'm facing homelessness starting in December. I want to take this as an opportunity to become independent and regain control of my life. Took to Craigslist out of desperation and have already been messaged by quite a few men. I've burned all familial bridges, have no friends, no car or license, zero money to my name. I'm taking online classes (psych major...) and currently searching for a full time job. I'd be interested in getting others' input who've been homeless and managed to get back on their feet. Thanks.

Yes, I have been homeless (UK) I went to the local council offices as they are obligated to offer temporary accommodation. For the next 9 months I was pushed from pillar to post. Hostels to B&B's and back again. I had one suitcase which I never unpacked because they could move me with no notice. At least I had a roof over my head, although sometimes I didn't feel safe being a young female. Eventually I was allocated a secure tenancy with a local housing association and I've now been her over 14 years.

Im facing a similar situation. Just got turned down for any form of assistance from my areas. I wish i could offer advice, except that the salvation army is a horrible, horrible shelter for anyone, but women are treated like the dog doo on a shoe.

I have been homeless before. I am female and it was a scary situation to be in. I lived out of my car for a while and stayed in cheap hotels when I had some money. I saved a little and bought the car really cheap from a private person, I didn't have a driver's license at the time either. I got my ex to sign for the car and hand over the money but I don't think anyone was going to check and see that all I had was a driving learner's permit (I had driven a lot before though so I was comfortable but I never went too far just to be safe). I stayed in the parking lot of a 24 hour grocery store because it seemed like the safest place to be since there were cameras in the parking lot and people close by. The store had very cheap canned items and discounted stale bread that I would eat. I took any job I could until I saved enough to get back in my feet and in a position where I could get my driver's license. Wishing you the best!

Be careful of the men on Craigslist. About a year maybe two years ago I was temporarily homeless and I was posting ads trying to find a place to stay and I met this guy and it was a not so great situation and I left and went back to this other toxic guy and he rented me a place that is outrageously expensive but at the moment I can't get out of here. I know it's hard when u are desperate to not try anything to have a place to go but more often than not u end up in some less than ideal situation with some guy that wants to use u for sex or they like u but u don't like them and it's awkward situation. Just really screen well and meet them in public place first. Don't meet them at their place. It often feels like a trap when u are desperate for a place to live and the person can get control over u easy when u are vulnerable.

I was in the same boat at aged 17 ( a long time ago) I lived in a hostel with crack addicts, exburglars and schizophrenics (not to be bad about the condition but I feel they should have been in a better equipped specialist housing Center- and it was a lot or others there to deal with) & I really was not mentally robust or hadn't come from a strong enough background on deal with all that - it made everything so much harder to cope with & to try and get my own life sorted at that point - lumping all these people together is not the best thing- but obviously temp housing options are SO limited!
