  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Has anyone else had iron deficiency? Did taking iron supplements help? What about if you have IBS, and you took iron? I have IBS and iron deficiency, I got my blood tested and my ferritin levels were "horrible" according to the nurse, ugh I hate when the healthcare workers here are so vague and don't send you the information on paper. Anyway, I'm trying it out again. Actually I had anemia when I was a kid, and when I was 14, I used my iron supplement to OD on my first CTB attempt. I was literally shitting iron out of my butt in the hospital, they pumped my stomach, I could have died they said if I didn't come in, but it was sooooo painful! I was so sick ugh. I remember being in the toilet and the only thing that came out was clear water, with actual iron sprinkles LMAO! Anyway these are the symptoms I've been having. But I have urinary issues too that I'm still getting tested for, no UTI, but I can't afford better testing like a microGen test to see if I have an embedded infection :( so I'm probably screwed on that front. I live in BC Canada, I can't find anything to help with my frequent urinating (20 times a day), urgency, bladder pain and aching, and urinary hesitation/straining :( I take buscopan, gasX (simethicone), pepto bismal, lactaid for my IBS, so I was hoping there was something like that I can take for my bladder issues. I've heard of prelief and oxytrol, but we don't have those in Canada :(

Oh these are the symptoms of iron deficiency. I am so so so exhausted all the time, just wretched. Always, my whole life, I only get spurts of energy once in a while. I just hope these new expensive iron pills work, I got feramax its polysaccharides iron its supposed to be easy on the gut...it's okay, no symptoms except VERY hard bowels, so I need more fibre ugh.

healthcare workers here are so vague
You want them use descriptors like "unremarkable," it means there's nothing wrong :P

Did they tell you to go back onto iron supplements? I don't recommend taking them again unless your doctor tells you. They can cause other complications that can be very unpleasant.

yes I've had iron deficient anaemia. I was taking an Nsaid for wrist pain. Stupidly I took them on an empty stomach, they burnt a hole in my stomach and I started losing blood. It just disappeared out of my body. I got a heart arrhythmia. I couldn't walk properly and collapsed.....into my cats litter trays, face down, poo and all! I looked really pale and when I finally went to the doctor's, he called an ambulance. I had to have a blood transfusion. My haemoglobin count was 4. They transfused 4 pints of blood back into me. Four pints is half the blood contained within the body. I was basically walking around with half my body's blood. No body knows where it disappeared too. There is a reason why it happened though. At the hospital they told me that if I'd had left going to the doctor's any longer, I would have passed away. From exsanuination. My poor heart didn't have enough blood to pump around. I was so happy to receive my new blood. I kept saying " I love my new blood " lol! This was 2009. They put me on iron supplements and a proton pump inhibitor for a good few months after.

Me too I waited for almost 10 years to get help for health issues because I was totally sure I had something... but everything came back negative so far. However I don't believe they do full testing that's expensive like dna testing and stuff, there's this test called microgen for interstitial cystitis bladder disease and I can't afford it's $500 and it detects an infection that can be cured by antibiotics apparently

Yep I make sure to take advil on a full stomach... I stopped taking it since I found out I have IBS... but I will need it for severe pain like tooth aches or period pain... opioids and analgesics don't work on me anymore... I'm so sorry you went through that it's traumatic
