  • Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

I have no interests so I have no hobbies and I'm so depressed.
I told my boyfriend I have no friends therefor I don't play many video games like I want to or anything else. I basically am always on tiktok or youtube. He told me I ultimately just need more hobbies. I feel so passionless though that it actually just makes me want to revert to my period of anorexia, because that consumed my life enough.

Some things I don't want to do are cook, knit/crochet, garden, go to the gym, color, journal, collage, read, or learn an instrument... i also have limited places around me so although 'professional' pilates sounds intriguing, there's no way for me to attend. I live in a cold state too so walks aren't really a great option.

So any reccs of hobbies are welcomed. Even if you have a hobby I named off I'm still interested in how you like it.

To me one answer seems to be here: "I want to". Although I'm biased because I like video games a lot and that's the hobby I've done the most. You don't need other people to play video games. I don't know what kind of games you like, but from the top of my mind:
  • Skyrim
  • Cities Skylines
  • Hollow Knight
  • Minecraft
  • The Witcher III
  • theHunter: Call of the Wild
  • Don't Starve
  • Elden Ring
  • Frostpunk
  • The Long Dark
  • Sid Meier's Civilization Series
  • Stardew Valley
Those are games that are either single player or fully enjoyable playing solo. Of course they are heavily leaned towards fantasy and role playing, but I've played them all and I like them very much. They all provide you with countless hours of immersion. If you don't like those games, there ought to be others you like.

Also, have you thought about sharing a hobby with your boyfriend? would you and him like that? If you choose gaming, even if you play single player games, you could share experiences with him and even challenge each other.

While you look for a hobby, if you want something different, maybe you could try watching something you are not used to on YouTube, for example. You even could make another account to reset recommendations and see what happens.

I don't know if it's considered a hobby, but in the past I had a notebook where I write down phrases from songs I liked and then I continue 'the story' with something created by me.

Hobbies are so vast... you really need to sit down and think. What can you access? Can't fuel your gamedev hobby if you have no pc. but

Gardening
Learning a language
Writing
Drawing
Learning music
Editing
Working out
etc etc.

You need to figure out a bit of what you find fulfilling ig. Games are design to be fulfilling so maybe there's a start. What kind of games you like to play? No friends don't matter for a game like Final Fantasy.

Nier Replicant/Nier AUtomata are good (Automata is more accessible tho)
Xenoblade 3
Silent hill 2 (2001)
Castlevania Symphony of the Night

just random recs

Collecting is a wonderful hobby, although it takes money and space to store everything.

I like collecting mechanical pencils. I don't have too many right now.

Ask ChatGPT about this.
I truly believe that it's a perfect tool for those kinds of questions. No matter how depressed and dismissive you are, it'll keep spitting out ideas and perspectives, with unlimited patience. It can also elaborate on things, and help you solve the practical hurdles of getting started.

That's that i said many times. Still want to get some more but nothing has really grabbed me.

Hobbies: I paint minis and build models, sometimes getting in some games (rpg and tabletop minis). The hobby overall has a lot of elements so you can pick one and not the others. Mostly a solo thing but it does have the potential to find friends.

I like to just learn new things. I'll buy a textbook and start studying it on my own time. Learning is actually very satisfying if you're learning what you want and when you want.
