  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Have you told anyone about your CTB attempt/s? How did you tell them? What happened afterwards?

I went through the whole SN preparation last night but SI kicked in and I couldn't bring myself to actually drink it. I figured that since I hesitated, I should try to give recovery a chance. I'm in my 20s and I'm thinking of telling my parents and a few close friends about it, but I don't know how to put it into words.

If you feel comfortable sharing your experience or giving me suggestions on what to say, I would really appreciate it.

Do they have any idea that you have been struggling?

It can be a very sensitive topic. I can't say I generally got a good response but since you want to try to improve your life I think it will be received okay. You don't have to reveal that you actually poured yourself poison, just that you have had thoughts of suicide. They'll probably push the usual meds and therapy stuff, but you seem open to that. Hopefully they will appreciate the strength it took and the trust you have in them to be able to confide in them about such a serious thing.

I've never told my parents, besides the one time when I tried to jump off a bridge and it was a whole mess, some woman caught me, an ambulance came, thankfully I wasn't locked in a psych ward, I actually attempted once I got out because of my bad mental state and bad treatment from head nurse. So I didn't want to be sectioned again 30 minutes later. My parents reacted like I was selfish and doing this to hurt THEM. They will never understand.

I told my 2 best friends about my ctb plan, but I didn't tell them that i need help because I was angry at that time, their reactions were not what I expected but still good I guess.

I believe the best way to do it is just tell them your condition as clear and simple as possible, tell them that you are suicidal and you need help, that's it. and after that they will ask you how, when and why. I suggest you to be 100% honest so your recovery will be much easier and faster

i hope you get the help you need.

Most of my friends know, most of them have dealt with similar thoughts before and were very understanding, as for how you break it to them i don't really have any advice for, i don't even remember how i did

I just take very casually and openly about it since suicide has been a part of my life since age 11. Everyone knows about it, but I try not to talk about it with the few people who are uncomfortable with it and who feel weirded out how casually I talk about it.
