How do you cope with good things happening to objectively bad people?

When I say bad people, I mean like people that have raped, people that have intentionally physically or emotionally hurt people and still do....yet everything comes up roses for them.

I've been on this site for a long time, since 2019 but with a huge break in between...but this is one of the things I have the hardest of times with. I guess that's why most people here are atheist/agnostic but lean towards nothingness...because it's just so hard to make sense of it all. And in some ways, it's more comforting to believe that there is no God or any kind of supernatural authority because if this world is that unfair, who knows what something beyond it would be and in the end we all go back to the void and nobody remembers anything.

I don't know, I'm just rambling.

I don't believe in karma so it helps a little bit with coping since the universe can be so unfair inevitably. Like how my rapist became a woman safety advocate and was praised by everyone for "supporting women"…while simultaneously torturing me for life with what he did.

Since we don't know what their lives are truly like without living in their shoes, I'm sure bad people suffer consequences all the time they just don't share it.

They do. Much more so, than what's visible on the surface.

That's a tough one. I have a hard time feeling okay about it. I try to think of it as just a snapshot of a time in their life, and that it doesn't mean anything about what else they will go through or the "karma" they may experience.

Through an understanding that whether or not someone is good or bad doesn't have a whole lot to do with whether good or bad things happen to them. Also remembering their are many direct rewards for being a bad person. Such as money obtained from theft. Or Jews and Christians throughout history using war, death, and murder to squash their religious competition. In the old testament book of Samuel the Jews murdered an entire nation of women and children...and the Bible even goes as far to say they must kill the infants as well according to this so-called God. Idk if there's anything more evil than murdering children and infants simply because their parents had the wrong religion. Yet more good things happened for the Jewish followers as a result of squashing competition.

There is also to understand that getting other humans to reward you is usually just a matter of gaming human psychology regardless of morals or intentions. Which only requires being good in the moment/two faced.

The book How To Win Friends and Influence People is quite informative on what human psychology generally responds to with positivity. While the book focuses on how good people can do better the inner workings applies to bad people's being two faced also.

To be honest I never think about this because I do not care. Is that bad? I just know that the world is unfair, there is no point feeling anything towards these people. At the end of the day they wont care and you will just be wasting your time being upset about it. Instead I rejoice that death is coming for them whether they like it or not, the great equalizer
