I was fired from my dream job last year and am now in an in-between job which is somewhat relevant to the field but not a long term thing. (My contract ends next summer.) I am determined to get back into the same line of work as my dream job but it's a really competitive field and I've already been fired once so most people would agree it's impossible to get back in.
I am looking at applying for another in-between job that is more relevant to my chosen field than what I am currently doing as a bridge to the job I really want. The problem is that I would need a recommendation letter from the boss who previously fired me and she isn't answering my emails. (The last one was sent yesterday so I have to give her a few days before I try texting or contacting other coworkers to find out what's going on.)
Over the last year, there were a couple of other times I tried to contact her or someone else at my last job to ask a question and didn't get a response, so I suspect they have completely cut off contact with me. But this time I don't have the option of just shrugging it off. I NEED this letter in order to get the job I want. And the frustration of not hearing back is making me depressed and making it hard to focus on work. I don't know what to do. The only reason I'm still alive is because of the small hope of finding a way to get back into my previous line of work. (I'm not going to settle for any future other than this one.) But without a letter from my last boss, all the work I'm doing at my current job is for nothing.
