  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

As my birthday approaches everyday i am full of regret and struggle to move on.

2 years ago out of nowhere i was offered this part time saturday job as youth worker in a church set up by this lady. I turned it down as i feared messing up and being needy.
My fear of messing up came from a voluntary placement that went awfully

Since then i have struggled to find work.

How do i move on from this?

When I have regrets, I always remind myself that I simply made the best possible choice with the knowledge I had at the time. There is no way to know everything that will happen, you just need to consider the circumstances and decide. You decided to turn down the offer, and that was your best possible choice. Hindsight is a tool that you should use to help you with the next choice, not to dwell on the past. Sometimes the best choice appears to be a mistake afterwards, but there is no way you could have known that. You did nothing wrong.

I don't regret any decision I made. Each and every one of them have shaped me, made me who I am today. You may wonder why that's a good thing, given that I'm posting about ctb but each of those decisions was made with the best knowledge, experience and information I had at the time. If it went disastrously, it still taught me something.

This is a very solid mentality to have. It's also one that has guided me through some rough times. Many people have a hard time grasping it though.

I've done many things I deeply regret, some truly awful. Some that hurt others.
Like I'mDone said, it makes us who we are today for good or for bad. I made the decisions that were right for me at the time. We all do our best, even when we are weak and fail.
Now, anger and laughing at the absurdity of the universe drive me on...I mean WTF was I supposed to do?:pfff:
We have no choice but to accept what has happened in the past and deal with it somehow.
I rarely quote poetry but I'm with Rudyard Kipling on this one...
Though for the sake of balance, also read my signature. :blarg:

How do i move on from this?

At the risk of sounding like a guru: you wait until you do, and in the meantime – savor it.

I'm also struggling with picking up the broken pieces and moving beyond the consequences of my past poor judgement. I'm really at ground zero now and having to start over more or less completely with aspects of life that I'm finding very difficult to move on from. I know this is all vague, my situation has more to do with my personal life and relationships than it does with a job. My advice to you would be to find something that gives you fulfillment- maybe along the same or similar lines to the job that escaped you- and to just pour yourself into that new goal. The focus on getting to- not the place you would have been- but an entirely new and different place- may give you peace of mind and a means of moving on. Having said that I know how difficult it is to live with regrets that aren't going anywhere. There is still the feeling of loss and disappointment that has to be coped with and managed on a daily basis.

i wish i knew the answer to this question. Only option available to me right now is to move on by CTB. I have a couple of reasons to "move on" like that but regret is absolutely the worst.

How to move on? Instead of imagining only the good that could have happened at the job, counterbalance it by also imagining how it could have been awful. Instead of imagining only how it could have made things better, imagine how it could have made things worse.
