  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I think the Internet would be pretty destructive. It would look like 8chan.
Probably worse.

There would be death threats, suicide cult forums (this joke is for the BBC...), there would be CP everywhere, everywhere there would be the worst gore imaginable, swatting would happen all the time, terror threats etc. And all of that without any spoilers. The Internet would be pretty useless.

There would be insane amounts of War propaganda on any platform.

People who monitor content on major platforms have a fucked up job. It must be disstressful as hell.

I have heard horror stories from the people at Facebook that have to censor posts. They stop the pictures that violate the ToS which requires them to actually look at the pictures. Apparently the turnover rate is high and people leave the job pretty fucked up.

Pretty screwed tbh..i mean like imagine if you were able to mess with someone's mind beacuse you posted stuff example gore and stuff. Ofc you can still access it bit is more umm...extensive. Plus if the internet had no filter then there would be fights and full on brawls of what you said.

Tbh people get offensive of small things but also that doesn't exucuse some of the awful stuff people say

Theres a few times I've watched stuff i shouldnt that curiosity led me to that

Like Bud Dwyer's umm...well end and a guy getting his head umm sliced

Which kinda my fault but yeah the internet can be a messed up place even with the censorship

I think there's like too much of it to the point that saying some words in a video gets you a strike which ok excessive but oh well

It would be essentially impossible for any sense of community to be formed on any platform. There is very little censorship here, for example, but you still need a little bit of censorship (no cp, no spam, no public posting of sources) for it not to become an utter shithole.

I disagree entirely, I'm old enough to have had acess to internet in the early days, and before government censorship local community moderation kept it pretty clean, and that's how I think it should be. There was no absurd amount of CP, death cults, violence and all that crap, if you wanted to find anything more gory you had to really look it up or have someone give you an adress, remember, back then search engines were not a thing or were just scratching the surface of the www.
