What makes you happy?
(I wanted to respond with this under someone's thread asking if people are truly happy. I wrote this but the thread got deleted so I am posting it myself instead.)
I am happy when I eat ice cream.
I am happy when I listen to good music.
I am happy when I sing along in my car.
I am happy when toddlers wave at me.
I am happy when toddlers smile at me.
I am happy when the cashier is nice.
I am happy when I can sit outside in the sun.
I am happy when I see pretty flowers.
I am happy when I see butterflies.
I am happy when I see bumblebees.
I am happy when I see my family.
I am happy when I hang out with friends.
I am happy when I make my parents happy.
I am happy when people are proud of me.
I am happy when I cuddle my dog.
I am happy when I cuddle my cat.
I am happy when I cuddle my bunnies.
I am happy because I have free tuition.
I am happy because I have nice neighbours.
I am happy because I have free healthcare.
I am happy because I live in peace.
I am happy because I have enough food.
I am happy because I have enough money.
I am happy because I am loved.
I am happy because I feel supported.
I am happy because I don't feel alone.
I am happy because I love others.
I am happy because I have hope.
I am happy because I can be.
Happiness is not a state of constant euphoria. Happiness simply means to experience more positive emotion than negative. And while that can be insanely influenced by mental illness and other factors, at the end of the day a huge potion of it is still up to one's attitude and how you decide to let your mind perceives things.
That is why people say:
Focus on the good.
