• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

That advice helps nobody. I have never left my comfort zone without regretting it. Fuck people who think they know you better than you know yourself.

Well, I guess that depends on whether you're happy with your zone or not.
It's not about actively seeking discomfort, but sticking to the same zone will yield pretty much the same results. If you want to create change you need to try new approaches. There's really no way around that.

same. it doesnt help that fear is magnified for me so when i have to "step out of my comfort zone" it feels like my life is being threatened so im already on the verge of a mental breakdown. its like "here is some advice, sink or swim bitch". half of me wants people to spend a day in my shoes. they'll come begging for me to take it back lmao

It's the same thing like saying to prioritize long term goals over short term gratification but suicidal thoughts put into question the plausibility of staying alive long term and makes this advice iffy

Spoken like true greenhouse flowers. Most of us here in the real world are trying our damndest to hold on to the remnants of what we painstakingly built of ourselves.

Hate this phrase too. I don't even care if it will be likely to lead to success if it's not 100% guaranteed. If there's even 1 percent of a percent of a percent chance of failure, then why risk the danger?

People who say that never step out of their own "comfort zones"
Theirs is just larger by default.

I understand the statement in terms of- fear can hold us back from doing things that may eventually bring us joy. It can potentially hold us back from even trying.

I feel the same though. I've kind of accepted now that it's all a compromise. Either you face the things that terrify you. Potentially making yourself more unhappy short-term in the hopes that long-term, it will work out for the better- and it doesn't always! Or, you accept that your fear is going to likely keep you in an unhappy but at least, safer feeling place.

I've definitely taken this route with social anxieties. I'd rather not be around people, even if that means I may feel lonely from time to time. Even if it means I haven't progressed as far in my career as I would have liked. It still feels preferable.

I think you can also feel a sense of peace from feeling like you aren't going to push yourself to do things you find truly awful anymore. That in itself can bring some sense of relief/happiness.
