  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I enjoy the camaraderie, but commiserating here probably isn't the gold standard for healthy coping. Conventional coping methods don't seem to be particularly effective. Does anyone here have any offbeat healthy coping measures that they personally use?

Distraction with music, tv, videos, exercise to help with depression, positive thoughts. On the unhealthy side I've tried self harming.

Keep trying with those (minus the self harm) and try finding some new hobbies to enjoy - have you tried long walks around your town or hiking? Have you tried videogames and reading books?

I used to suffer from anhedonia while I was severely depressed, for me weed made things more enjoyable and helped me cope but it doesnt work the same for everyone. Hope you find something:)

Here's how I cope, which might or might not be your cup of tea:

• I use mildly narcotic herbs which supress my anxiety and depression and lift my mood surprisingly well.
• I do martial arts. I think it's better than exercise, as it requires total focus which makes me forget everything else. I've started doing small exercises every day, at home and at work, which is a great distraction for me.
• I write, both fiction and non-fiction. Just like martial arts, or perhaps even more so, it requires total focus. I often muse on what to write in in my everyday life and it can be a great distraction too.
• Although I don't do it much nowadays, meditation is really good for coping. It helps me relax and put things into perspective, and helps me live here and now and not worry about my future or brood over my past.

A while ago I was taught this trick to help with self-harming: hold on to an ice cube for as long as you can. It hurts like shit, and you don't have to worry about cuts, infections, scarring and all that. It def helps me when I need to get my mind off something fast, I tell ya.

What kind of herbs are they, may I ask?

I made my playlist entirely for this purpose. Of course it won't be for everyone but you won't know if you don't give it a chance
