• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Following recent events in the us, my gf talked about wanting a gun for self defense since she's trans and I'm also trans and Hispanic.

I'm not sure if I'd use it to ctb since I'm terrified of them and I want to go more, poetically(cringey I know), but it might be nice in a pinch.

I feel like the bigger thing is my gf, she's way more likely to use a gun to ctb since she knows a lot about them and has talked about using it on herself before.

In addition to that, recently she asked me why she should keep going with living and I couldn't give her a good answer that made her feel better.

So now I'm terrified to buy guns but with recent events I feel like having it for self defense would be nice. I feel like a hypocrite for saying I'm scared of my gf ctbing if I want to do the same thing but, I don't know how to feel or what to do moving forward. I don't have anyone else to talk to about this so I guess that's why I'm posting once again lol

Just a thought keep or turf as needed.

Yes, a gun can be a great tool in self defense. The best tool I have come across though is you. The top end most dangerous thing on the planet or off is another human.

That being said perhaps a little hand to hand training and a socp. Can always get a lower caliber weapon as well. If worried about gf, then dont by a 357 or double eagle. Smaller caliber handguns can be very effective at self defense while providing a poor way to CTB. Couple with some hand to hand training, a socp, and situational awareness, you would be more than effective at defending yourself.

There should be ample materials out there to increase your fitness level if needed, survival often favors stamina over brute muscle in my view. There is also alot out there on urban defense of your home/apartment.

I am a heterosexual male, I have no issue with you and yours. Spare a moment to realize not everyone out there is after you. There are also people out there all puffy bunny that would become complete animals if they ever came across an assault, realize you are not alone and some value freedom.

The world is always changing, it only stops when the observer looks away. Never know what tomorrow will bring but it is my hope that whatever it is you can defend yourself and your choice.

Just wanted to add a few thoughts as well.

Guns can be very useful tools for self-defense. They can also be extremely dangerous to the user and bystanders. I don't know what your experience level is, but if you have never operated firearms I would strongly advise you to get some good training if you are going to buy a gun. Even if you do use a gun properly in a self-defence scenario you can end up in court having to explain yourself. If you accidentally hit a bystander (there are lots of ways this can happen) you are liable for that as well. And actually using a gun effectively in a self-defense scenario is nowhere as easy as movies make it out to be.

There are some other options, I would highly recommend you look up Hard2Hurt's youtube channel, he has a lot of practical advice. I don't know if you want something for home defense as well, or your exact situation, but for going out there are some things you might consider first:
  • A good tactical flashlight - yes it sounds silly, but a really bright flashlight can deter alot of people and draw attention
  • Sound Grenade - look these up, they're cool and easy to use.
  • Pepper Gel - I would advise gel, not spray. It is more accurate and is less likely to blow back in your face
If you can afford it timewise/monetarily, getting some good self-defence training potentially be useful. Finding a good self-defence school is actually pretty hard, again I would start with that youtube channel as guidance. Alot of self-defence is just not getting yourself into situations you cannot get out of, having a way to draw attention if needed, the ability to deescalate, and distance management.
