  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I am not an addict, I do not have a habit of taking benzos. But I am a functional alcoholic, working full time and drink a heavy amount of alcohol every day. I want to quit the alcohol, because I feel as though it's contributing to my constant suicidality. I am determind to kill myself, this feeling has been prevailent for many years, even before I became an alcoholic. But I feel as though I should try life without alcohol for a while to see if my feelings change before I fully commit to catching the bus. I feel as though it would be an enormous help to have some benzos prescribed from a doctor to help me wean myself off the alchohol. And furthermore, I could use that prescription to have something stocked should I want to take the SN protocol. What can I say to my GP in the UK to equip myself with that? They already know I have a previous medical history of depression, anxiety, and psychosis. How can I ask for benzos and anti-emetics to fulfill the SN protocol?

I was a former alcoholic myself and got prescribed Klonopin. I'm in the states and it's super difficult as most doctors will see alcoholism as a read flag. The only way I got prescribed benzos was admitting myself to the psych
ward and convinced the doctors there to prescribe me klonopin. GPs can prescribe benzos but from my experience a lot of them are hesitant. Instead of saying "Hey doc, can you put me on Xanax?" try saying "I'm struggling with alcoholism and severe anxiety, and I want to quit drinking. I'd like to discuss safe treatment options to manage my anxiety without worsening my alcohol dependence, including whether a short-term benzodiazepine prescription might be appropriate, alongside support for quitting alcohol, like counseling or other medications." That way it doesn't come off as drug seeking behavior. You have to really speak their language if you want to convince them. Cheers.

Duly noted, thank you so much for sharing the benefit of your experience
