• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

If we could just re-focus...

I self-refered for a talking therapy today. Some diagnostics got ran and I was honest in the screening. But I won't tell them the full history of things as I just want to talk about a current issue (I have back problems and it affects my moods and thinking and is creating friction again...).

(Background: I'm dealing with all sorts tbf, but after everything and my CTB history, I don't currently want to die - I'm just looking to understand myself and my back problems and difficulties facing things today.)

I just wanted to share this as I've had thoughts and feelings that have brought me here and I have to admit, life is sucking at times and not getting much better...

But I've made this step to SaSu and referral and burying things and focusing on the today... But how should I approach talking about these thoughts I'm having now with a talking therapist? Aren't these thoughts natural? To think of all the difficulties and almost laugh it off thinking 'well if I died tomorrow it wouldn't be all bad'... Or is that wrong?

Such thoughts aren't natural, if you want to open up to a therapist, there is no way back. You will probably end up in a psychiatric hospital and on medication (which may or may not help you)
ONLY MY OPINION: Opening up 100% is a scam

I wish you the best with your therapist, well done for reaching out! And I'd say those thoughts are natural, I remember even before I was suicidal or depressed, I was excited to die. I knew that death would occur anyway, so why does it matter if it happens tomorrow? Heres is a Reddit post from a user who also explains being accepting of death, despite not being suicidal:

Yeah I hear that. Getting sucked into a system that's money driven like drug therapy isn't what I want... Or a system that's only partially effective at dealing with the issues which is a big ethical concern.

I guess death is a natural thing, to plan for it and thinking about it is, even if it happened tomorrow... But making it happen, why isn't it natural to you?

Yeah I liked that, I guess loads of people have wider perspective on how it is...

It's just a part of life, I guess it would be bad but in ways it would end the difficult things. I guess I'm not the only one wondering what's on offer

This is bullshit. It's very unlikely you'll end up in a psychiatric hospital unless you say you have a specific plan to kill yourself imminently.

Talking Therapies will be used to encountering people with low-level suicidal thoughts.

You'll almost certainly be speaking to a psychologist or a therapist, not a psychiatrist, and so they are unable to prescribe you medication.

It's a good step to take. Approach it with an open mind and do your best to practice what you learn.

In my experience most "Talking Therapists" tend to go with non directive therapy. So they work mainly with, "How do you feel" & "How did that relate to you" etc.
They mainly just ask questions, usually to try to get you to direct your thoughts towards the positive and any good things in your life or on the horizon.
If it helps you and you can afford it go for it. I'd just be cautious in how much you disclose as some have lower boundaries than others in attempting to cover themselves if you disclose too much.
I hope things go well.

Thank you Unspoken7612 I'm going to try and be open minded.

Practicing is the bit I have no idea about rn
