• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I think I have Borderline personality disorder since I check all the boxes, but my therapist never talked to me about my symptoms being that, I THINK she even told me its not BPD but just symptoms that are result of trauma, but isnt that exactly what BPD is?
I also dont wanna sound like I only want a diagnosis or anything, but it is easier to know its a condition rather than personality trait, and you can Imagine how I would feel if the symptoms of BPD are my personality trait.
How to approach for this?
Pleeease give me any advice :(

I would be very forward about it but that's just how I am with things in general.
For all diagnosis you have to do tests which will check for a lot of things.
If you think that it would help you to have a name for your condition (for many it does for others it just doesn't) talk to your therapist about it. If you don't wanna be straight forward about the BPD diagnose just talk about how you would like to find a name for what ever you're going through and you think that it would help. Usually it will take quite some time because many diagnosis aren't just plain and simple to diagnose and many of them have the same symptoms which can also lead to false ones.
So if you feel comfortable enough with your therapist just be open about it and see what comes from it. I wish u the very best and the strength needed

THIS WORKED FOR ME, AND HELPED ME UNDERSTAND I DON'T MEET THE CRITERIA. MAY APPLY TO YOU.

talk to her about exactly how you feel. tell her the things you never told anyone, things you were embarrassed of doing like provoking jealousy, feelings you can't quite understand yet like "i want person X to me mine and i would do anything in my power for this to be true", maybe things you've done for attention, etc. tell her everything you might be ashamed of.

just don't try to fit the checklist of symptoms. for a proper diagnosis, meeting the diagnosis criteria by checking the boxes isn't the only thing that's important.
there is a category called impairment. basically you can have all the symptoms of BPD but these don't affect your life a lot, maybe they are just thoughts, just little actions. if there is no SIGNIFICANT IMPAIRMENT, you're not fit for diagnosis. that, your psychologist can evaluate and your psychiatrist can get you a proper diagnosis.

BPD is not a personality trait, although it can often affect how your personality works but there is really good progress with CTB and DBT therapy.

i hope you get a proper diagnosis, BPD or not, and can get access to a good mental health team to assure you the treatment you deserve. be well.
