• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I mean jumping from a place like the grand canyon or beachy head, where you're falling from massive distance on a hard surface that's bound to kill you.

Statists show that jumping from 150+ ft plus is around 98% likely to kill you, but that doesn't count all the undiscovered suicides, and also doesn't take into consideration those who had their fall broken by objects on the way.

So taking all that into account, if you jump from a very high height you're almost certainly dying.

Surely the key is to inebriate yourself well enough before hand?

Beyond a shotgun positioned properly in the back of the throat, aimed just slightly up from the brainstem which is 99.9% effective, jumping from greater than X height (look around this forum to determine X) is 99% effective.

1 in 100 people will survive with serious injury.

I think once the height is great enough death is pretty much certain. If I jumped 2000m off the grand canyon I'm 100% dead if nothing breaks my fall, barring some absolute miracle.

Yes, it's almost guaranteed to succeed if you do it from high enough, and have a vertical fall onto a hard surface. But if you need alcohol to do it, perhaps you are not ready to ctb

Not sure I agree, just because fear is stopping you doesn't mean you're not ready to do die, it's just SI is holding you back.

There are almost always extraneous variables; cliff edges one can get caught on, etc. People have fallen out of planes and near-miraculously survived.

The higher you go, the more the 99% figure probably looks more like 99.9%, but even then there are the 1 in 1,000, 1 in 10,000, etc.

To make an evidence-based assessment of risk, we can only base our conclusions on the 99% figure we currently have

Agreed. Although I recommend alcohol. It is absolutely not a pre-requisite.

Indeed, some people may prefer to, or benefit from keeping their wits about them while they contemplate their final moments; these people may occassionally even be more ready to die.

The point is it varies.

I guess we're all different. If I wanted to die by jumping off a cliff, I would walk up to the edge of the cliff in a clear-headed state and jump. Or I might run and jump. I wouldn't use alcohol, and I won't use alcohol when I do eventually ctb (by a different method).

When someone is truly ready to CTB it'd unlikely they will have the energy and drive to get up and go somewhere to jump.

This is probably why hanging remains the most popular method by a large margin.

Going somewhere to jump also allows a lot of time to change your mind on route.
