• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Hi everyone, It's an option that normally I would never have considered, but in some situations in the forums one happens to come across polemical people who seem to want to maintain dominion over every discussion, not accepting out-of-the-box voices that are not in line with their preconceptions. This is why I wanted to ask about the "Ignore" button that can be clicked on each user: does it work in the same way as the block we find on social media, preventing us from seeing that person's messages or replies? Thanks to anyone who wants to answer me!

You won't be able to see any threads or posts they make unless you show ignored content. You may still get notifications from them if they reply or quote your post and if they send a post into a thread you are watching.

Thank you. All that remains is to ignore these people by not responding to any provocation.

I second what @Namelesa said. It won't completely block that person from being seen by you.

Ignoring them mentally might work, but if they're doing something wrong you can also report them to a mod.

Will that person be able to intervene in my threads?

Best idea (as limiting as it would be) is to make your posts on your profile, and block them from seeing your profile, but you won't get nearly as much activity on your profile.
It's basically a useless button.
Somewhat, yeah.

It's more about whether curiousity will get the better of you... You'll see that an 'ignored member' has responded in a thread. It's whether then, you can ignore the notification and find out who or what they posted. Plus, it gets more complicated if other members respond to them in the same thread because you'll see their reply and might get curious to know the context. (If that makes sense.)

Sometimes, you can just try to agree with members to ignore one another. I've found that I tend to trigger some people and, they trigger me. Probably not personal. Probably just trawling up past trauma but- I've found that some members will agree to mutually ignore one another to avoid conflict.

I understand what you mean. I can completely ignore a person, but on the other hand I don't think he will. There are people who find any excuse to attack you, and it's a great shame there isn't a blocking function in the forum equivalent to blocking social networks like Facebook in its groups.

Yeah, I understand. One newer member recently, I was anxious I might run into again but, they seem to have vanished.

If they actually are being abusive to you though- beyond just arguing- you can raise it with a mod. Bullying isn't tolerated here. I'm sorry you're having this experience. I think many of us really enjoy your input.

I know where you're coming from. there is one very toxic person who i have seen likes to tear people down in threads by misinterpreting them and nitpicking word usage. I wish the ignore button could prevent them from commenting in any threads i post, but it doesn't. It's really lame it doesn't and i hope that changes.

I've wondered this too.

When I recently joined back in December, I had a troll in my thread tell me I was annoying from several posts I made about being ghosted by a friend. They were also stalking my profile and asked for my abuser's phone number as a joke from another thread I made opening up about the abuse I went through in my relationship.

I think a block feature could help keep some of the members here on SS site safe from harassment due to trolls.
