  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

It's less than 3 weeks before college starts and I feel like I'm not ready for it. I feel that I am even less prepared than the previous time, since last year I went up with all my childhood friends but now they will be a year above me and I will be completely alone.

I can only think of everything that could go wrong.

I entered a socialization whatsapp group for new students, but even by chat I was not able to say anything. I froze looking at my cell phone, seeing how people I already knew from last year but who are now in their second year... I don't think I can get in.

In 3 weeks I will leave everything here to go far away. An unknown place with unknown people, and I will be completely alone. I just hope that situation awakens my survival instinct and at least wakes me up.

I'm weak, I'm just a coward. Maybe I should only die tonight.

Do your best to prepare. Make a list of all the different things that are making you anxious and try to have each point covered by a plan of action.

Change is scary. Always is. Best we can do is follow the Scout motto: be prepared.

Hey. I get it kind of. For me I didn't have many friends where I grew up, and when I went to college it was a relatively better/easier place to meet people. But yeah leaving people behind is scary.
Also on the other hand I didn't have a strong sense of *wanting* to "do" college, or what I wanted to study - academics didn't feel that important to me. I went because I could access housing (dorms) and some federal grants that way and it was just kinda generally expected of me. And I really just want to emphasize to people that there's nothing wrong with taking some time away from school if you don't feel much drive/direction there, and going back a bit later is totally doable! You become eligable for more financial aid once your parents stop claiming you as a dependent anyway!

Socializing can be a little easier if there is a task for a group. For example volunteer work or a study group can allow peripheral socialization without the intensity of people staring at each other with nothing to do.

Stepping into the unknown is always scary. And you're absolutely correct, your instincts will kick in and you will experience a part of you that you have yet to be introduced to. I also agree with what other have commented, prepare what you can, don't be affraid to share what scares you (you'll find that you're not alone in feeling this way, others are just quite good at hiding it). And trust that you will get through it moment to moment. I bet there have been more difficult things that you have overcome in your life, no? Even when you thought that you wouldn't make it through. So many new experiences await you - some pleasant and others not so much. That's life at the end of the day. But do you want to stand in your own way of what could be a chapter full of growth, new people and exciting times? When you get there do the things that make you feel good - don't worry about everyone else. You've got this! Trust yourself and know that it is ok to not have it all figured out 100%. You're not alone šŸ–¤

You have to at least try it, but don't expect solutions overnight. You carry your baggage with you, expect hardship. The things that led you to this forum will still be with you for some time, perhaps forever.

I think I failed already at my "recovery attempt", but as I said you gotta try.
