Dear friends,
I wanted to take a moment to remember a cherished member of our forum, Dani, from Switzerland. He sadly passed away on October 10th, 2020, after a long battle with mental health struggles. His story touched many of us, and I think it's important to keep his memory alive, as a reminder of the importance of kindness and support in our community.
Dani introduced himself to us with remarkable honesty, sharing the deep and difficult aspects of his life:
Dani had a cat, he lost her when he became homeless towards the end of his life, he had to give her away:
Dani was a fan of photography and even had some photos taken for a personal project:
In 2007 was the only time he felt comfortable and close to recovery, it's also the same time he was in his profile picture, at the age of 37:
He was always truthful and had nothing to hide.
While Dani faced many struggles, people who had the privilege of knowing him know just how incredibly sweet, loving, and generous he was. Despite everything he went through, he always had a kind word for others and a heart full of compassion. Dani loved to help people, often offering his time and thoughts to support those around him, even when he was struggling himself. His empathy and care were truly remarkable, and he touched the lives of many in this community.
Dani's struggles with chronic depression, social isolation, and PTSD lasted nearly his entire life, yet he reached out to this community, trusting us with his story. It's heartbreaking that he lost his battle with mental illness, but we will always remember his courage, his warmth, and his desire to help others.
Let us honor Dani's memory by continuing to offer the same kind of support, understanding, and compassion that he showed to others here. His story reminds us of the profound impact mental health has on so many, and how important it is to look out for one another.
He taught us why we shouldn't fear death here: X
Close to the end of his life he donated all his money to a friend in need. He said he never had a family, partner or friend. He used to call Sanctioned Suicide his "SaSu Family". He wished to die in the mountains in Switzerland and be eaten by wolves, apparently he loved nature and wanted to give back. Unfortunately he died by drinking SN while livestreaming it to give back to the community. He faced death, naked, shaved and with a nice haircut with his amazing blonde hair, like he came to the world, looking like a beautiful man as he wished, since it was a key moment in his life. He never wanted to go peacefully, he always wanted to feel death coming to take him. That why he used SN without other drugs over exit bag. Just a man facing the inevitable.
He stopped breathing at 23:18 a the age of 52.
You can find his goodbye thread here: X
Thank you for @cassie for reaching out and talking about him to me. The pictures on this post were posted by Dani on this forum. Cassie, his personal friend at the time, thought he would have find the interest on him touching and curious. I hope he is somewhere enjoying the passage of time in the bus he so often talked about. May we meet one day.
Dani, you are missed deeply, but your sweetness, love, and generosity remain with us. Rest in peace, dear friend. You were loved. Even though i don't know you, i love you, and us from this community love you too.
