  • Hey Guest,

I am a bit of a gym rat and depressed cause I can't get into the gym. I figured if I had a new routine, it would help me out. Only issue, I'm not good at building them at all. YouTube is helpfulish? I have controversial opinions on gymfluencers. I wanna get someone to build it for me if possible or help myself. If not, I tried. Lol

There's great free options on YouTube and also apps that offer free content. I think the hardest part is wanting to do it, so you're already set up for success. You'd probably also like a habit tracker app to see your progress and feel accountable.

personally for me i wrote down my gym routine in a document, and have it on my phone (i could attach a pic of my routine if that might be a good jumpoff point to make a better one but mine might kind of suck), it makes things easier for a step-by-step. i also have a playlist of each exercise and how to do it right and how to use each machine (if you plan to go to the gym) etc. if you have no access to the gym theres still stuff you can do at home with some basic equipment. also personally a youtuber i like is jeff nippard, hes pretty good; also i feel like half the stuff i said here is silly bc ur og post reads as very educated on the gym-- i moreso meant like exercises to do at home to get back to going (thats where im at bc i got injured in the beginning of the year)

Thanks. I have a very rigid gym routine. But my issue (just like everything else) is I'm bored of it. My "dad" made it and refuses to make a new one. But I can't be passionate about anything for more than a week

Make your own routine then. I don't know why you would ever follow somebody else's routine unless you were quite literally a clone of them. Find out what workouts motivate you the most, and stick to them. If you find yourself getting bored of the new routine change it up again, or perhaps go back to the old one. Routines are good up until they point where following them provides no new gains or maintenance.

I mean yeah, but there's some more nuance than that. I am trying to find something new to regain the motivation

Well, motivation is simply a fuel for reward, so in order to regain motivation you must first regain a desire to be rewarded. What is the end reward of what you need the motivation to fuel? If that reward isn't motivating you, then perhaps it's because it's not actually that rewarding, or there is another disconnect keeping you from feeling it.

OOOOOOO I really like this. Im gonna have to think. Looking good is a nice bonus but I really enjoyed how it gave me a sense of progress, something to look forward to tomorrow about. It gave me a sense of routine and structure as well, which is nice, considering my brain is pretty chaotic and disorganised (adhd). I always liked that about it. It was consistent. But due to my trauma, consistency is boring after a while. Which is a conundrum

I get it, I'm in a similar boat. The good news is even inconsistent and consistent need not be mutually exclusive. You can have your consistent periods, and then you can decided to be inconsistent, before going back to your old consistency. Mix and match, and all that jazz.
