• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

title is self-explanatory (and if it is possible, please share how!)

i don't know how to computer well, and i'm getting very annoyed with the crappy ai images that are swamping google search results. if anyone knows how (or at the very least, can provide an ai-free alternative to google), any help would be deeply appreciated

It is becoming increasingly hard, and for certain niche searches, in my case certain animal species, sometimes it's more AI bs than actual photographs of the animal...it saddens me so much.
I noticed a decrease in AI image results when I moved to Duck Duck Go, although they still appear, just much, much less than Google. I've also had a much better browsing experience, being able to find smaller websites and niche communities that with Google I couldn't since it only showcases results from top websites and other shitty stuff that companies pay to appear there.

If you don't like AI, Duck Duck Go has AI functionality embedded in it, although it doesn't affect your privacy. You can turn it off in the settings, which is what I've done.

You can try filtering the results by typing "before:Year" (e.g. Before:2022) and you could also try filtering out the word "ai" by adding the "-" sign in front of it (-ai) though it's less effective.

That's kind of the best you can do, at least from my knowledge. At the bare minimum they may help to minimize the amount of AI results you come across.

I'm searching this more right this moment because your post made me remember how tired of this AI slop I am.
I found this plugin you can add that helps with creating a black list of sites so you no longer see them on search results. You can either block a whole website domain and everything that comes from it, or specific image links: uBlacklist.
There are also premade lists for black listing AI slop, spam and other things here which you can subscribe to: uBlacklist user created lists.

Just keep in mind that new AI slop may appear if the people maintaining those haven't updated their lists or haven't encountered them, but it's a start!
I'll start by manually blocking things I think and see how that feels but may subscribe to those lists too.

I hope you can find the beautiful animals you're searching for
I've started now and can already see a world of a difference!
