Carbon monoxide megathread
Zanexx goodbye thread
I've studied the above threads, and decided on the following plan:
- I have already purchased the Malawi 2 tent which Zanexx successfully ctb with.
- I will purchase Weber briquettes which Zanexx used.
- Buying 2 chimney starters and 2 steel buckets, to double up on Zanexx method. Is this a good idea, as in it's better to have too much than not enough?
- I will burn charcoal in the chimney starters until all briquettes are burning (guessing about 20 mins, but will adjust) then tip into steel buckets.
- Zanexx said the charcoal was still in the chimney starter with the timer about to go off, and they would be getting in the tent with it in about 90 mins. Therefore, I plan to do the same, but will wait and get in as soon as the charcoal is cool enough to not burn the tent, so if that is sooner than 90 mins, then so be it. I read on Amazon that the Weber briquettes still give off good heat after 3 hours.
- I plan on doing this in my back garden, on an afternoon when there is little to no wind. I don't know if it matters, but I thought the CO is more likely to stay in the tent, on a still day.
- I'm my Mum's carer, and my sister goes out to work. So my plan is to set up the tent and get the charcoal burning, and time it to get in after making my Mum's lunch at 1pm. I will lock my Mum in the house, and take the phone with me as well. Hopefully, she won't notice, and my sister gets home around 6pm, therefore, I'll have 5 hours in the tent, which I'm hoping should be plenty of time, especially with using double the charcoal Zanexx used.
- My big worries are convulsing and knocking the buckets over, and burning myself alive. Also, the CO level not getting high enough, and being left brain damaged with locked in syndrome etc. With my plan, and Zanexx being successful, how big a risk do you think these are?
