• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Is there any kind of guide for what you should do after an attempt? Obviously some kind of first aid, if necessary, but I feel like that isn't everything.

I mostly ask because I made an attempt at hanging myself, and now I have a headache, taste blood, and feel nauseaus.

Go to a doctor or do it again (hanging). Only waiting could be a slow and painful death or bring complications you would suffer your whole life from....

No, I just sat there, kneeling like an idiot not able to pass out, and after about five minutes I gave up and untied myself. I felt light-headed a few times, but nothing more.

If you didn't pass out you should be completely fine.

Agree with Jon86. You're fine. The pain will go away on its own. My failed hanging attempt was a bit more severe than yours. Couldn't swallow for a whole day because of the pain. Very visible rope burn around my neck. Some weird red splotches all around my face, I guess because of the constricted veins? All went away within three days. You have nothing to worry about. If you had passed out even for a little, that might mean brain damage. Although I've talked to a few people who had medically confirmed brain damage because of failed attempts but most of those people were fine, save for some memory issues.

There is a chance the doctor will call the cops on him because the doctor could come to the conclusion that he tried to commit suicide...

Do you mean how to deal with the failure of it? I would love to know that myself.
I haven't found a good path to getting over my own failed attempt. I thought I hated myself and life before but that was some kind of shallow pool ... now I am drowning in the damn ocean.

Realize that you are trying to kill your own body, a biological machine programmed to do whatever it can to stay alive. You are not trying to fry tasty eggs. It is hard, very very very hard. It takes either an enormous amount of willpower, despair or both things together.

Cut yourself some slack. It is okay to fail. Many, many people who die by suicide don't get it right in the first attempt.

The red splotches are what's called petechiae. They're burst capillaries near the surface of the skin, and it's because you compressed the jugular veins but not the carotid arteries. That means blood was getting into your head, but couldn't get back out. This increased the blood pressure in your head and caused the capillaries to burst.
